Just a side note, all three consoles standing side by side look cool, but I would be afraid of the lack of heat dissaption around the consoles. You may want to spread them out, but that's just my opinion.

| Ok, new problem. Remember, I got my speaker connectors almost eight years ago and just haven't had a chance to use them till now. Anyway, my surround speakers hang on the wall. I went to connect the rear two and discovered I couldn't hang speaker using my speaker connectors; I used bare wire during my temporary setup days. I'm using the Monstercable Monster Lock system. The first pic is of the master pin connected to the wire. The second pic is the spade connector in the speaker post. Notice how far it sits out. There's only about 1/4" space between the speaker and wall.
I really don't want to go back to using bare wire. Wire just oxidies, which is why I'm using the speaker connectors, and I only have so much wire to use without have to run new wire again. One solution is just cutting a small hole in the wall to give enough space for the speaker connectors to fit. There's no insulation in the wall and it will be cover buy the speaker. Another one is to to get larger rubber feet on the speaker to give more space between the wall and speaker; I don't know how viable this is with trying to all rubber feet, not that hard to unscrew the screw a bit to reach the mounting brackets. Another option, which I've never used, would be to change to connector to a flex tip.
(note: tip type correct, but image is wrong series. Picture is link to monster's page on the connector). Anyone have any experience using this speaker connection? I'm not that fond of this idea because it just seems like I'm going back to bare wire again.

| I've ran into that same problem with every surround speaker I've used. They end up being too close to the wall to use anything other than just bare wire. Honestly, I don't think it's that much of a problem to use simple bare wire. As long as you terminate the wire close enough so that the terminal pretty much takes the whole entire bare wire, then I think you'll be fine. | |

| Well, I got some more connectors in today. Did a little more work on the homet theater.
WBT banana plugs that will go into the rear port of the wall plate; note part of the wall plate sitting on the floor.
this is the banana plugs in the wall plate adapter.
Unfortunately the wall box isn't deep enough, so I need to bust out the rear of the box. I'll do it on Wednesday. The WBT plugs are pretty nice. The green then screws down and expands the plug, so you get a very tight fit.
this is just another picture of the wiring with the equipment rack in place, but just from a different angel.

| got a little more work done:
Had to cut out the rear of the wall box because the WBT banana plus were too long and I was concerned about a short being created later from the wire being pinched.
Found out I mismarked my right surround and rear right surround. No big deal, but had to take the wall plate out to switch the wires.
I'm still waiting for those flex tips, so I haven't finished hooking up the surround speakers. Somehow I didn't order enough locking pins, so I order those today, but I have cut the wire to length for the runs from the receiver to the wall plate. Getting close, I think, 8)

| haha! Man, mismarking wires is a pain!! At least it wasn't worse of a fix! Looking good man, can't wait to see the finished product! | |

| Well, it was worse. I use the wire with the white writing for the red post wire. When I cut the wire for right surround, I couldn't see the writing on the speaker wire because too far for me to see, paint on the wire, and so forth. So, I connected the center channel wiring to the right surround post to use a volt meter so see which wire was hot, and was getting no signal. After fiddling with wire a bit, I tried connecting center channel feed to different inputs, and low and behold, sound came out. So I had to take it all out, double check them all. Luckily it was only the two. | |

| I will say, I like those WBT banana plugs. The green part screws down and expands the banana. Very nice. But they're pricey, even from Parts Express. | |

| A little more progress. I got the missing connections for the receiver to wall plate, so I completed that connection.
Here's a picture of the overall wiring of the theater:
Now I just need to last monster lock flex tips for the surrounds so they can be connected and mounted. For now, the surrounds just sitting:
and yes, that is the 2008 Orange bow with VT vs. Kan.

| Wow Bot - those connections into your receiver are clean! When I redo my system I need to get me some of those connectors. Do you have a link to them? | |

| those connectors are the Monster Cable Monsterlock system. I got them about seven years ago. I personally like the WBT banana plugs more (see pictures of wall plate wiring in rear) because you can screw down the banana which makes the banana expand and get a extremely tight fit; they're not coming out easily, 8). The monster stuff works well too. The monsterlock lock, like the WBT, can easily change the connector tip.
The links for the Monstercable stuff: master pin and banana
They're getting harder to find. I needed to get some tips, and really the only place I could easily find was partsexpress.
