WMP 11 sharing video, music, & pictures with 360 & PS3

OK so I was up until 3:00 last night trying to configure the live TV settings on my new laptop when I realized that it was a hardware issue and exchanged the computer today.

Ironically now my Windows Media Center is working great but now my WMP 11 does not seem to be sharing files properly on the new computer.

Basically I can get a connection on both my PS3 and my 360 no problem. I have allowed both devices in WMP 11. I have checked and rechecked all of my file sharing settings and which folders are being monitored. Not even the sample music, vids, or pics are showing up...nothing.

Has anyone had this issue and how did you resolve it? I would hate to need to reinstal WMP 11.....

WTF!!!!! It set up just fine last night on the 1st laptop! I even had the PS3 playing an entire set of songs....now I have changes so many settings around.....I hate crap like this. I feel like I never left work....

Do a yahoo/google search for "wmp11 and xbox 360 media sharing" or something similar....I had the same problem and there are some things you need to do in the system/processes settings to get it going and it varies, some pc's work fine, others you have to change a few settings...There are several forums/articles on it but I 've forgotten the steps but it did work after I did them..... I actually use ORB now...www.ORB.com.... Its a media sharing program and once you install it and have it running the xbox360 sees it no problem and works basically like WMP11 without the hassle.........................Good luck!!

I went through 3 help desks and all of them gave up and could find no info on the internet.

However, for the sake of anyone's sanity who encounters a problem like this take a look at the creation dates on your folders......

I kept asking about this but none of the "helpers" that I spoke with would acknowldge it.

Many of the folders on my system showed a creation date that was 7/30/2007....which was the future.

So it looks like the system could not "see" the files.....so I changed the system date then went into WMP 11 and selected "Add Media" it then searched all of the files that I had been trying to share...lo and behold the 360 and PS3 could both see my files....
