I've already installed electric/cable outlets in the ceiling for this TV, so now I need to find the "best" method of mounting the TV. The ceiling height is 10 feet. I originally planned to use a wall mount, but then remembered that ceiling mount is also a possibility. Have any of you ever used one of these? I found several on pricegrabber.com, and here's one I'm considering.

Man, I couldn't help but think you were mounting a TV directly over your bed when I read the title of this thread!! Yeah, I know, get my mind out of the gutter right?
So what would be the benefit of mounting on the ceiling versus the wall? Each one has studs/support beams that would offer a stable install surface. Are you not installing it near a corner/wall? That would be the only reason I could think of to install on the ceiling. For example, if you wanted the TV in the middle of the room or something.
To answer your specific question, however, I don't know much about any of the mounts. But I do know that there are tons of mounting solutions out there and many manufacturers trying to break into the market.

So, while it may hang below the top edge of that door, having it ceiling mounted will allow me to bring it off the wall by about a foot. Another reason I like the idea of the ceiling mount is because it offers a swivel function that most wall mounts do not.

| Ah! That makes loads of sense. Yeah, so long as you get one that swivels like you would like and you mount it into a support beam, you should be fine. Sorry I don't know more about the actual one you are looking at. | |
