Since we are on the Converting topic, I got a Harder convert Question I need help solving. Back Mid-East WE used Beta-Max when we came here we threw away the movies but kept Videos of Birthdays, FAmily events and such. Now we cant find a Beta-Max Player that is Lightweight, or Converters willing to convert to vhs or dvd. I would think Beta to Vhs then Vhs to Dvd....

If you can find any sort of BetaMax player, and you have access to a miniDV camcorder, you can connect the BetaMax player analog outputs to the miniDV camera for recording. That'll give you a digital "conversion" of your Beta source. Then, use the miniDV to connect via Firewire to a PC for editing.

lovekeiiy is on a distinguished road

if you know anyone who works for the televsion or movie media, they may have something to do it for you. Beta is used primarily in the media. You could try a student at the academy of arts too.

Betamax & Beta are 2 different formats. Beta is used by many in the industry & is a high quality format, Betamax is just slightly higher resolution than vhs. Betamax players are hard to find. If you find one just get a standalone DVD recorder to make your copies. don't bother with the vhs first. When you make analog dubs you lose about 10-20% of the quality. Around here the charge to make a DVD from tape is about $15+ but I'm not sure if anyone still does Betamax. I only do vhs 8mm & mini & full size DV. I send out for any Beta tapes I need done & they cost more to do.

Ah, didn't know that Beta and BetaMax were different. Good to know.
