| They are an acquired taste, MadB. Not for everyone, that's for sure! | |

For me it is channel 101
Best Buy and Fry's sold out this morning for blu-ray (didn't check hd-dvd)
People who have it are saying it has outstanding AQ on both formats as well as very good PQ.

| While I have yet to jump on the HD DVD / BD I picked up the plain jane dvd today. Pretty kick ass even without the HD Glory. I have seen them live 12+ times over the past 2 years on the barricade every show and that blows away anything HD DVD or BD could ever do. | |

March of the Pigs
Closer
Beside You in Time
The Hand that Feeds
Head like a Hole
DISCLAIMER: It's edited for your protection, ****ers!
Picture/Sound quality are amazing...I had a nice moment. One where I felt that the 21st century finally arrived. That is until I realized how much I have spent on sorry ass DVD over the past 10 years.
This will hold me over until the real thing arrives. I had to break down and purchase the stupid thing at the sale price on-line.

I think I'm done buying Blu-ray/HDDVD titles from brick & mortar stores. They are always out of what I want (they said they only got 6 Blu-ray copies of Casino Royale in, WTF?), and are always over-priced. I think I'm going to start ordering from Amazon again. Casino Royale is $23.99 + 10% off+ free 2-day shipping + no tax. By comparison, it was around $34 w/tax had I bought it at BB.

| I got this on amazon.com last week and I watched it and thought the music was fantastic! There were several songs on there that my whole room was shaking.
As for buying Blu-ray and HD-DVDs in stores, it's really hit and miss. Between Fry's Electronics, Best Buy (several of them) and Circuit City, I can usually pick up what I want. They are way overpriced though. I usually save the in-store purchases for the ones I know I can't live without right away, like Casino Royale.

Also same store situation which is nice. Casino Royale at $24.99 wasn't too bad, though I'd rather spend less of course.

| Of course!
Yeah, there wasn't a whole lot of surround usage other than the crowd wailing, but the spatial soundstage and open-ness/airiness was stunning to me. It was more subtlety than in your face with the impressiveness, I guess.

It could be because I loathe the drum they got to replace their original. He was the drummer of A Perfect Circle, a band which probably should have just called themselves "Tool: Part Deux."

| Could very well be, I suppose!
People were raving about the video quality being absolutely outstanding, as well... I thought it was very, very good, but not as good as people were saying. Most of the show was in pretty dark setting so it's hard to get overly excited when you only see very little on the screen, I guess. Still pretty good, like I said, just not as good as some would say, IMO.

Stage lighting never bodes well for video cameras, and the show used a lot of different colored lights. The video did capture Trent's stage presence, which was a plus. I just thought I've seen better HD concerts on cable.
BTW, watched The Departed last night. What an awesome movie! Scorsese proved he still has it! Those headshots were nice looking!

I think I asked before and they said it was the lead singers softer side or something like that.
