| Thanks Peench. I've installed them on the back risers as well. It's tough to get a good pic but I'll see if I can get one to turn out. All lighting in the concession area and theater is controlled by Insteon. With the desktop link, it makes setting up lighting scenes a snap. | |

Got a Denon AVR-3808ci to replace the old Rotel setup I had and decided to remove the VCR and Cassette deck. My setup isn't anything near what Alter has , but it suits my needs anyway.

| M, very nice setup you have. I love how well organized everything is. Now we just need to talk you into getting an Elite so everything matches. | |

So I'll tell you I got an old wornout leather chair two speaker stands that are about a foot and a half or maybe 2 feet from each ear wth some lil roland studio moniters on each stand and a lil 27 inch TV that sits about3 or 4 feet from the afore mentioned wornout chair. Its kinda lame but going down there I dont have to worry about waking up my son or the old ball and chain. I usually watch all my football downthere too. And I also beat some ass on the pingpong table down there too. Its not very good looking but its my lil space.
ps. Doesnt anyone use a wired controller!!?? I havent touched my wireless in at least a year but ive noticed none of you have any cables comm'n out of your 360's so im assuming you always use your wireless controllers.

It doesn't really get used now since both the DirecTV HD DVR and the Denon receiver both have media share functions. I just put it there for shits and giggles LOL. I have a spare room that I set up for gaming/computing with my old Mits 46" RPTV and a Onkyo HTiB. The Sony monitor has too much lag for any real gaming.

My wife and I had the idea that we could tear down the wall between our living room and single car attached garage (we have a two car unattached out back anyway) and turn it into a bigger home theater area. That would be tons of fun, but really expensive, and probably not beneficial to the value of the house.
Anyways, I'm just living vicariously through you, Alter, so keep posting pics!

| Thanks Cause. I also wondered if the theater would have any effect on the home value. Obviously it would come down to the buyer, but it seems more and more new homes are being built with theater rooms, so it appears to be a growing trend. This particular end of the basement didn't have egress windows so it could only have been an office or bonus room anyways, so I wasn't worried about losing a bedroom and affecting the value. I would have loved to have made it larger, unfortunately there is a huge stone fireplace which runs right through that end of the house. So I framed right up to it and that's all she wrote. I just wish the economy would settle back out so I could go back to getting a decent paycheck again. | |
