Thanks man.
The new Sony has exceeded my expectations and I definitely recommend it. I have waited a long time to upgrade and have spent every available hour researching for the past few months.
My prior HDTV was a RP-CRT (Toshiba 50H81) that is now 6+ years old. I just couldn't justify a 720p only TV or another bulky RP all these years gone by.
Finally, all these years later, micro-displays are capable of 1080i/p, very important for any HD golf, football, etc. fan out there. Sure, all of the current HD technologies still have several major critical flaws, for god sakes SXRD/LcOS and DLP still rely on a flaking bulb! However IMO, the SXRD has the least amount of inherent engineering flaws and is best suited for gaming.
Paired with the jaw-dropping quality of HD-DVD and HDMI improvements in general (I admit, I was a doubter), it really doesn't get any better than this in a reasonable price range. (fyi, the "high-end" XBR2s just came out but they average at least a thousand more than what I paid for the A2000 for the same size).
Wow, that was a mouthful, I hope my commission check from Sony arrives before the first payment on this thing!

Reason: replacing an f-bomb with something a little more "E for everyone" friendly.

Apparently the State of Florida liked the fence idea and passed the cost on to parents. When I was 18 months, I was left alone poolside, with no fence and was surrounded by gators, for days on end! I turned out ok (sort of)!

No problem, it's nice to finally be able to share my thoughts on the TV after reading about it for over a month. Ask away + here are two starting resources, not including 100s of pages of info. on the AVS forum: http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/equ...sxrd-hdtv.html http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_KDS_60A...-31901232.html
I have only tried the 360. I will try to hook-up my dreamcast this weekend and let you know how it performs. Edit: there is a game mode setting that turns off most video processing, just like the DLPs, it should help with the 480i consoles.
Yes, each input retains all tweaks and the amount of tweaks you can perform is impressive. You can even adjust white balance and individual color settings from the main (non-service) menu. to be fair, I think most of the 1080p TVs allow this now.
Regarding price, this is defiantly the best bang for the buck right now IMO. I got the 60 for only $2,900. Talked Sound Advice/Tweeter down from 3500 MSRP. I just checked for you and the lowest internet price I could find on the 50" is $2069.99 so you should easily be able to haggle your way to 2100-2200 locally. Find a store that will work with you, they are out there.
Good luck, let me know if you have any more questions.

tampabuc preaches the Gospel! I have the 50" XBR Sony SXRD/LCoS in my living room and it is "da bomb" (can I say that?)!
[Check out ma theme song!]
I've tried the set out with older gaming units via component and S-Vid and they do just fine...other than the aspect ratio thing. In all my research, and personal experience with LCD, DLP, and CRT sets, the LCoS from Sony is head and shoulders about the rest for the money.
Later,

You're right, a solid CRT RPTV is still best...but they are a dying breed unfortunately.

| You can embed youtube videos by using the following tags: Code: [YT]FOHkF4rCIxc[/YT] Replace the "YT" above with "youtube" and you are all set. We are working on a button to make it easier, but for now using the text will work. The tag is youtube and the info in the middle is the little code at the end of the youtube video link. | |

I don't know why, but I've never really been that impressed with DLP. Some of the other LCoS sets I've seen haven't been as good either, but this Sony XBR LCoS is a beautiful thing. But, still can't touch a CRT on black level...but getting close.
I've not seen an actual SED yet, but I've heard the same thing that they will be the "killer app" for all next gen HDTV's.
