| Which pj would you pick. Seeing as I can't seem to make up my mind I figure I'd get some input. Post your reasoning behind your choice. Each has it's pro's and con's. I purposely left off the JVC RS1 (my number one choice), as no one knows when it is actually going to hit the streets.

| Yes you dirty bastage. You have cost me many restless nights.
*I am actually heavily leaning towards the new Espon TW1000* (I know it's not in the poll, lol).
It looks like it has the most lumens, C2Fine, and a 2 yr warranty +1080p to boot.
It streets for around 5k here in the states but can be ordered directly from Japan for less than 3.

| I just missed the RS1 power buy on AVS which was a steal. I don't think I can wait for it to release. The funny thing is, I have talked to a ton of people who have upgraded from 720 to 1080, and they say unless you sit about 1.2 screen widths away you are never going to notice a difference in resolution. At my seating distance of 1.5 they said I would be extremely hard pressed to see any benefit in 1080p. This coupled with the fact that the current crop of 1080's are really shy in the lumen category it certainly makes me reconsider an ax100u as a stop gap until the 2nd gen's hit. I like to have the guys over for sporting events (UFC, hockey, etc.), and I keep going back to the fact that the extra lumens sure would be nice (there's something not right with hanging out with the guys in the dark, lol). I'll say it again, Da%n you Brad . | |

| Alter, I don't buy into the not really seeing the benefits. When I saw the Pearl in person, it looked more detailed than my 900. Maybe it's just me though...
The higher lumen output is nice but, if you think about it, the current crop of 1080p projectors are right on par with the lumen output of the 900 as well.

| I don't think what you're seeing is a huge improvement in resolution but more a character flaw in the 900. With the ss employed by the Panny in the 900, the image was softened up a little. This has since been improved in the 100 but it still is softer than say the Z5.
The only 1080P projector on the market that I think would have a noticable difference is the Mitsubishi HC5000. It is said to be razor sharp, too bad about the DI problems.

| Isn't DI user selectable? Isn't the AE1000U as sharp as the HC5000, with the benefit of the SS?
I dunno. If you were happy with the 900U might as well go with Panny again since you essentially know what you are getting!

| The DI is selectable but from reports the blacks are destroyed with it off. From everyone I have talked to, the Mits is the sharpest pj on the market right now. The 1000 has better colors out of the box though. If I was willing to spend 4k I would definitely take the 1000. I have set a budget of 3k (if not I will end up spending 5k, lol), and this allows me either an imported 1000u/HC5000/TW1000. Or I could end up with the AX100U/PS3/GIK242's for about the same price, and even less with the rebate. Plus I could pick of the 100 from Costco and not have to worry about a problem with the pj down the road (gotta love their return policy). | |

| Unfortunately I will still have to ship it. My local Costho doesn't carry it. But like I said if it develops a problem over the next few months I can return it to the local one, get all of my money back, and reorder it again. No hassles with sending it back for warranty work, etc. | |
