Damn, the cats over at ExtremeTech have an article up showing some serious flaws with the 360's DVD playback. Man, I need to look for a better DVD player. It is that bad. I'm talking worse than a $50 player bad. Come on MS. There is NO reason the 360 could not be a totally kick-ass DVD player when it comes to playback quality. The power is there. PLEASE write some better DVD playback code. Please.
See for yourself here. | |

| The HD-DVD addon for playing SD DVDs should be the same as the internal drive. If I'm not mistaken they are just transporting the information to the xbox to do the processing as it is, just like they do for HD-DVDs. | |

It does tend to play discs that no other player can, including my big ol 5 disc fancy set up. The only reason I am sending mine back is b/c the mechanical function of the disc tray is screwed up. Other than that I have no complaints on the DVD player.

| The 360 picture was never bad. In fact, it was "okay" enough for me to use on a regular basis! That was until I started using the PS3 for DVD playback. | |

| I sold the HD-A1 to Peench. It was a fantastic SD player, for sure! I was content with the HD-DVD add-on enough to use that as my sole HD-DVD player, for HD and SD!
The HD-A1 was definitely a fantastic player for Picture Quality!

| The HDA1 does a fabulous job. So much so that I moved my XP-30 into another room and now realy exclusively on the HDA1. It is a bit slow at things, but the picture quality is excellent! Between that and the PS3 for BluRay I'm set!
And mad thanks to Jon for hooking me up with the HDA1.
