Cardboard Boxes

How long do you keep the boxes, in which your HT gear was packaged? I've got the 42" Plasma package in my garage, and that thing is large. How long do I "need" to keep it?

I guess until your return period is over to avoid restocking fees? Well that is what I do when I buy.

I used to keep mine forever other then TV, however now I don't. No space. I only kept TV ones for a few weeks incase of failure after that I dusted them.

if it's big ticket items I usually break them down and store them as long as possible so, if I need to return it or if I want to sell it later, I'll have original boxes to ship.

I use all of our cardboard boxes for furniture and/or clothing. It saves a bundle and it's really amazing how a sheet and some hot glue can turn a TV box into a couch, or a pair of pants.

Honestly, with our serious lack of storage space, I keep boxes for about 90 days then give it the boot.

Send them to me when you're done. I need to add on to my "house".

That's why you kept asking me to take my pants off! Now I get it.

I used to keep my boxes in the attic, but once we started our "moving" thing, playing the real estate game, I got all kinds of carp over it from my wife. But, we think we're settled now, and could start storing them in my attic, which does indeed offer all sorts of space. And, she'd never know it was up there! It would be nice, though, to safely dump the thing.

No, actually that was for research purposes. I'm wrapping up my doctoral thesis now. It's called "Dynamics of Diminutive Gonadonal Dysfunctionalism in Early Primates".

Those pants did, however, make an excellent awning. We got 2 inches of rain the other day and they held up nicely thanks to the vinyl coating Danger had applied.

I was told by the Home Theater Store to keep my big RPTV boxes for about a month in case anything went wrong. After that, the extended warranty kicks in for shipping and includes packaging.

I always keep my component and speaker boxes, for when I move or decide to sell an item. Certainly helps when moving, and for some reason it gets more money when selling something used if you have the original boxes.

Cardboard boxes (especially big ones) make great toys.

I keep all of mine indefinitely. I don't have a big TV to worry about though. I am always upgrading gear and it certainly helps to have the original packaging when it comes time to ship it to it's new owner (or down the street to Taz, lol).
