Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Age: 25 | Insignia vs. Visio I'm buying 4 ~50" Plasmas with a budget of around 4k.
I've narrowed my selection down to two choices.
One is a Vizio, and the other is a Insignia. They are roughly the same price, at 1k per, so that's not an issue.
Both are nearly identical in specs. 720p, 15000:1, etc. etc... so that's not an issue either.
They're going to be used at the bowling alley, so number of HD inputs and things like that aren't a big deal. It basically just needs to be able to play HDTV from DirectTV or something.
I'm posting this because I don't know which one to go with. I'm leaning toward the Insignia for future leverege purposes, but I might sway back to the Vizio if people here tell me it's a much better quality TV. I'll probably be making a decision by tuesday of next week.
Thoughts?

| What models were you looking at? If you can give me the model# of each one, I'll check them out.
I don't have too much experience with those brands in terms of plasma, but I've heard numerous complaints about Vizio LCDs.

| If you research more, I think you'll find more complaints about Insignia. I would go with a Visio over the Insignia. Visio is more reputable and little bit more reliable.
Definitely find out the model numbers for us, though.

I have an Insignia 32" LCD and I'm happy with mine, even though it doesn't get much use. Why are you looking at Plasma vs. LCD? I'm pretty sure the LCD flat-panels are more energy efficient than the PDP's.

| Completely happy with my 47" LCD Vizio and if it matters at all it plays my HD directtv receiver just fine. | | |

Unfortunately, the Insignia went back up to 1300 today, but I'm fairly certain I can bargain it back down to a thousand.
I just like Plasmas because they're incredibly thin and look great. I didn't find any LCD's that I liked. Energy efficiency isn't an issue. Glare might be, though, so I'm not 100% sure that Plasma is the way to go.
How thin can LCD flat panels get? As thin as the Plasmas?

I got 3 Panasonic TH-50PX 50" Plasmas. Link
They were 1500, on sale for 1100. I saved 1200 dollars total.
720p with 1,000,000:1 Contrast Ratio!!! I'm pretty stoked about it.
Now, I need three ceiling mounts. Anyone know the best place to go for quality ceiling mounts that won't cost an arm and a leg?
