Anitspyware & Adware Programs?

Does anybody know that can recommend a Free Spyware & Adware program. I believe Winantivirus is using adware to market on my cpu, plus it keeps saying it scanned like 50 corrupt or infected files. So any suggestions could help, i just need a good program that i could d/l for free that wont cause more harm to the cpu.

Be careful with using the protect feature on Spybot S&D. It blocks cookies from Excite... if you get your mail there, it won't let you do that without cookies.

I use Spybot. If you use Firefox there is almost zero need for these. Unless you're installing shady apps. The only thing Spybot finds is tracking cookies since I switched from IE about 3-4 yrs ago.

Nah, AdAware and Spybot S&D always did the trick for me when I needed to get rid of anything.

Funny thing is, free stuff worked better than the Norton crap that you can buy. Any time I did a scan with Norton (every Friday that dumb thing would pop up) and it would never find ANYTHING. If I knew my system was running somewhat irregularly I would try Spybot and Adaware and sure enough, it would find something.

I personally use McAfee, and only because it's free since I'm using comcast high speed. I find the best solution is to format and reinstall everything on the HDD once a year.
