| computer won't see rest of network I'm a bit stumped. Maybe some of the IST or more computer literate than me people may have an idea.
I formatted my HDD and reinstalled everything on the computer. Had a virus and trouble with a DVD drive. Everything works fine now, but for some reason, the computer will not full connect to my LAN. It connects to the LAN because I get internet access under the LAN name and private IP. I can log into the router, and look under the DHCP list, and see all the computers, including the computer I did the reinstall on.
I'm using WindowsXP. When I check under system in control panel, it shows the correct workgroup name I use, and confirm with a computer on the LAN that is working correctly. The one thing that is not showing up the new install is the windows "network ID wizard" button on the same tab as the computer name and workgroup.
Basically, I need to connect proper so I can install the LAN printer on the computer. When I go to do it now, it won't find the printer.
This is really fustrating because normally it's just setting workgroup name, installing NIC drivers and setting the LAN settings, the printer comes up with no problems.
Let me know any ideas to look in. Thanks............ |
