Throwing Power Drains

I've seen guys throwing the power drains around, some quite a distance too.

How do you throw these? I've tried looking up while pressing X, and also holding X, but I still seem to end up dropping it at my feet.

As long as you're moving forward and looking up a bit, they should go a ways. They'll go a bit further if you're jumping at the same time.

And don't forget to either stop or start backing up after throwing it.. I uh, I hear not doing so hurts a bit.

I was in the base at the beach end of valhalla, and someone threw a power drain from the little path through the rocks on the right hand side of the map into our base. I can't even get them to throw a little distance never mind that far.

I can usually get them to go pretty far the way that jagger just described.
