Various reports on Mon. claim that the $69.99 Halo 3 Limited Edition SKU for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 video game console may hold loose, scratched discs in the final retail version.
Members of community video game website NeoGAF and consumer website GameDailyBIZ have confirmed several cases of loose discs in the tin case which resulted in disc scratches.
The problem may be due to an unorthodox disc holder in the case that is unlike most standard disc holders found in traditional game or DVD cases.
Halo 3 will be sold beginning at midnight on Tues., Sept. 25 in three SKUs, a $59 Standard Edition, the Limited Edition, and the $129 Legendary Edition.
The disc holder malfunction may blemish the highly anticipated launch of the final chapter in the Halo trilogy should consumers reject the Limited SKU for the Standard edition.
The previous chapter in the series, Halo 2, generated $125 million in sales in the first 24 hours of release.
Microsoft in July expanded the Xbox 360 warranty to three years to the cost of $1 billion after numerous consumer complaints of console malfunction.

I saw this first hand last night. One of the people who got this edition was leaving the store and he could here the disk rattling around inside. He sat down and opened the case, and sure enough, the disk was all scratched up. The sucky thing for him was they made him go to the end of the long ass line! I wouldnt have done that. The guy must have been there for hours already...
