I just got home. First impressions? Nice cellophane packaging.

Anyhow, I really look forward to going through the campaign with some of you. Sorry I couldn't get your invite out sooner AZ!

I'm very impressed so far. I buy the Halo games for the single player mode, I tried it on line briefly last night but it was just like Halo 2, everyone was jumping around like kangaroos on LSD and throwing grenades, not a ton of fun in my book. I'll wait until some more friends get it and try the on line with them.

| I hope I can get to my Halo3 packages before the mailbox facility closes tonight. They are out for delivery so I'm starting to get anxious about playing tonight. I wish I could take the next few days off. | |

My wife has promised to pick up the game for me today so I may have to cut out earlier than expected from work to go kill some Covenant. Looking forward to fragging with you all soon!

MP was kinda fun with ya guys this morning, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was playing Quake. I think GRAW2 spoiled me. The whole jumping up in the air thing every 2 seconds and gettin my ass handed to me kinda makes me mad. Oh well- I bought it to play with you guys, anyways.

It was in Halo:CE as well, same with the textures streaming in Halo 2 style.

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Hill Valley, 2015 Age: 25 | I hear ya Brew. I honestly didn't buy it for multiplayer, but coop is where it's at. Compared to Halo 2, the graphics are insanely better. Me and NIN tried some of the new multiplayer maps last night, but I couldn't shake the feeling that it was just the same old stuff in terms of deathmatch/slayer. I actually enjoyed checking out the maps at my leisure. It was nice and it's certainly something that you can't do while playing.
I think the fact that I didn't hype myself up on this game helps a lot. I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at the polish that went into this title. Overall, great campaign/coop experience but I highly doubt I'll play much multiplayer.

I feel the same way overall. I really suck. I had fun playing with PGL people last night as well, but if I was getting my ass kicked like that online with strangers, I would have ben done after five minutes.
It did help hearing AZ laugh as he would run off after killing me for the 50th time.
Gears is still the way all games should look.
As far as the jumping, yeah, some people can jump, and in mid-air, snipe. Yeah.... I am still looking forward to a bunch of co-op campaign though. Playing through on three levels will bring the game up to being worth the money for me.
Anyway, Face Melters will be ready for combat shortly. And we have a few tricks up our sleeves, so be prepaired!

There are parts in Halo 3 that are damn near photo-realistic. I can't say that about any part in Gears. The only other shooter that comes to mind is Half-Life 3, but that was only running maxed settings with everything turned on.
If all games looked like Gears, I wouldn't play them anymore. What's so wrong with looking different?

It wasn't until late in the 2nd level and midway through the 3rd level that I finally started enjoying playing. I think if I go back I may enjoy the first level, but on a first time through, it was bad.
Light spoilers if you care about what enemies are on the first level Spoilers: | Thank you, Bungie for putting Jackal Snipers EN MASS on the first level. Thank you for not giving me weapons to deal with them. Thank you for putting them so far off that I can't get to them to retrieve their weapons before they disappear. Thank you for putting them in places where I can't even jump to get their weapons. Thank you for using mid-level cinematic loads to seal off parts of the level so I can't back track and get weapons to deal with them. AARGH!! |
It wasn't really that bad until the last confrontation. I walked into that without 5 shots from my Carbine and my AR. Not the best situation. I was pulling my hair out. That was not what I was expecting the first time around. According to b.net I died 40 times. I know I was playing on Heroic, but come on!
Once I made it through the first level and worked out my frustration, I had a darn good time. It's still Halo and that pleases me.

Well if Epyon hadn't unload his clip into me as much as he did then maybe he'd have some ammo left
So who is going to start a thread dedicated to pics from battles?
