Movie Project Leaked

Bungie Studios has been forced to release a statement regarding next year’s release, and the ongoing production of the Pimps at Sea movie. A distributor apparently leaked the image from the movie poster, which was not supposed to arrive at theaters and advertising outlets until summer, in part thanks to an agreement made with Jerry Bruckheimer and the producers of the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel arriving shortly before that period. Both parties felt that the advent of a superior nautically themed film would hurt box office sales for the Johnny Depp project.
We deeply regret the harm and distress that this leak has caused Pirates, and would like to send out assurances to Mr. Bruckheimer that the leak and the associated images were simply not supposed to be for public consumption at this time. Again, our deepest apologies.
The story first broke in
Aint It Cool News, where reporter “Quint” managed to tie the reveal of the poster with actual pages of the script he’d received from a casting agency (an agency with which we no longer have a working relationship). The story seems to have been pulled and we have mailed communication to AICN regarding this leak. The notes on that script and the script itself, are proprietary to Microsoft and Bungie Studios and should be regarded only as historical documents. In no way do they necessarily indicate the current status of the production, or our ongoing licensing activities.
