Legendary Really $129.99

I just got a call from the hot automated voice from EBStop, saying that MS announced that the game will be $129.99 instead of $100 bones. Your pre-orders are still held and you only have to go in to the store if you want to cancel your order, or change it to a different edition. She put it as "Kick back, and wait for the game to arrive."

I'm going to check around the web and see what I can find, but I just wanted to get this out there.

Dere it go

That is crazy! I will never pay that much for one game. I can't see that the extra disc and helmet are worth that much to me to drop $130 bills. I bought the collectors edition of Halo 2 when it came out and never even popped in the extra features disk. Oh well, to each his own I guess.

yeah, it's sacriledge around here to speak anti-Halo, but I'm with you Woundup. I'm not big on collector's editions. And I have all the cat helmets I need after my Kitty Skate Park business went bust last year. Which reminds me, if you guys need kitty knee pads and elbow pads I can hook you up cheap.

A whole 'nother game worth of cash is too much for cheap-arse Quo. I'll stick to the regular version.

That seals the deal for me. If I do end up getting this game, I will DEFINITELY not be getting the Legendary edition. $130 for a single game that I may really suck at, not my cup of tea.

Here is the full word from IGN:

Quote:
Halo 3 Legendary Price Change
Truly a price worthy of legends.

March 16, 2007 - The official suggested retail price of the Halo 3 Legendary Edition was released this morning by Microsoft. Prepare for some sticker shock. Previously thought to cost $99.99, the limited release will in fact set you back $129.99. At more than twice the cost of the regular edition, still slated at a $59.99 price, the Legendary Edition is truly for the hardcore fans.

New details have also emerged surrounding exactly what the Legendary Edition will include. The previously announced Spartan helmet case is still in alongside two bonus disks of extra content. The first disk holds behind-the-scenes footage including a high-definition documentary titled "Making of Halo 3." This disk will also include an audio-video calibration tool designed by Bungie to help gamers get the most out of their home theater systems. The second disk will house remastered cinematics from Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 with new developer commentary as well as a featurette documenting life at Bungie. Last, but not least, the Legendary Edition will come with a set of Halo 3 storyboard art from Lee Wilson.

If $129.99 seems pricey for that set of schwag, the more modestly priced Limited Edition may be for you. This release comes at a suggested retail price of $69.99 and is similar to what you'd expect out of most collectors' editions. The first bonus disk found in the Legendary Edition (that being the one with the "Making of Halo 3" documentary) will be included in this release as well as a Halo fiction and art book. It all comes in a metal collector's case that won't elicit nearly as much jealousy as the Spartan helmet case found in the Legendary Edition.

Of course, you'll want to purchase all three versions of Halo 3 if you're a real fan. It's only $270. No big deal.

That is kind of baller how it comes with an AV calibration disc. Screw it. What's $30 more! I'll save money when I'm dead... wait.

The Collector's Edition is cool enough that I won't be heartbroken if I don't get the Legendary Edition... but it is freakin Halo 3.

I'll have to have a few words with myself I guess. Make it so that only LE's are avail at midnight, and I'd get it for sure... because those 11 hours make a difference

As I said in the other thread, I'm a sucker for LE of games that I love. I was planning on waiting outside at midnight anyway, might as well spend the gas money.

I'm not a fan of Halo (I thought the 1st was OK; I didn't like the 2nd), so you have to take my following comments with a grain of salt.

... but, are you guys who are considering dropping a $130 on this OUT OF YOUR F-ing MINDS?????

Come on; how often are you really going to watch the collector's edition movies? And how good do you really think the calibration disk will be? The calibration disc will only be useful for calibrating your component/VGA inputs since the 360 doesn't support HDMI. My recommendation would be to spend $60 on the regular edition, drop another $30 on the HD-DVD or BD DVE or Avia when one is released and donate the remaining $40 to charity (or your savings account).

Sorry for the rant; I just don't get it.
