I think the x button will be one of two things:
1) Sprint
2) Stock Shield (like we saw in the TV commercial). Possibly one time use per spawn.

If you think about the layout of the buttons for most nextgen games, wouldn't the X button be awkward for a sprint command anyway? It would probably be situated better with the clicking of the thumbstick, like crouching, so you physically have to work at it to be able to run.
There was a quote in one of the Bungie Updates or Humpday challenges that said something like, " That was a quick game, I didn't have to [press the x button] at all." |

Maybe pressing X brings up a Cortana interface where you can access different cool commands and stuff. That would be cool.
