I don't think it's the last Halo game, but I think it's the last Master Chief involved Halo game. I also think it's the last Bungie made (bungie meaning the core people that have worked on the trilogy thus far) but MS won't walk away from a money maker like this.

The article is very clear that MS leaves them alone though, and I doubt MS has any say in what Bungie makes. I see Bungie passing the reigns on anything else Halo related for the near future. And it's clearly not the last Halo game, Halo Wars will be dropping sometime after Halo 3.

Yep, I guess I could see someone else doing it, but I don't agree its the last Master Chief, but thats the greatness that is the net.

Honestly, even if they honestly say they won't do it again, that can change. Bungie and Master Chief are a lot like Jay Z, and he quit and came back.

It's true. I sort of hope that "Forerunner" rumor turns out to be true and we see a prequel about the forerunners.
