when will the legendary map pack be free?

I really want to get the legensdary mappack, (Havne't yet), I'm thinking about just purchasing it; but I know it's been around for a while and I don't want to buy it just for it to go free a week or 2 later.

Does anyone know or have any guesses of when it will be free/the next pack comes out? (which I would assume when the newer pack comes out the legendary one will be free).

I could've sworn it was November... Wait until you know for sure before you buy it - you'd feel pretty dumb if you bought it and the next day it was free!

At the onset, they said there were no plans to make it free. Who knows what will happen when the new maps come out though. It may drop in price or maybe the method of payment will change to kitten kisses!

Oh well - goes to show you, don't try pulling a date out of memory from way back.

They are getting crazy greedy with the prices of a few maps nowadays... Not that I don't think they should cost something, but the cost is way overpriced, imo

As I recall the heroic map pack went free when the legendary one came out. On xbox live I've heard chatter about another mappack after legendary (and the no boundaries snowbound/epitaph update), so my instinct would tell me the legendary map pack will go free like the heroic (and bungie is announcing that it has no plans, just to encourage us to purhcase it)

If theres no way of knowing or guessing, I might go ahead and buy it. I just feel silly buying map packs that are first over priced, I don't understand why only xbox games charge for new maps and PC games do not. And secondly they will become free over time.

Buying these sorts of things just makes me feel like a sucker, 60 dollar game, then it could easily go up to be about 100 dollar game If I am to purchase all the map packs that come out.

Even so, I think this map pack was well worth the price. It's good stuff, and I've certainly gotten my money's worth with it.

I agree on the pricing, but I'm more than pleased with the Legendary Map Pack. I probably would have paid for Avalanche alone. Plus, the new batch of achievements have a number tied to Legendary so the whores need to have em!

I also love Rat's Nest now.

I hated the update. I usually go on a lower sensitivty (2 sensitivity for me), because I am somewhat new to console games and I have trouble aiming. Well something they did about the movements in the new update seems to get people into Close quarters gunfights more often (i think you walk faster now). So i'm always getting screwed now with people getting right up to me and jumping around and stuff, my sensitivity is just too low to even look at them a lot of the time.

So I've had to turn my sensitvity up, and now I can't hit anything, and if I have a sniper, I'm better off trying to assassinate the person than shoot em.

Another thing I don't like is how they took out a bunch of game types. It feels like us "freeloaders" who dont have the legendary map pack are kicked out of the better playlists. I can understand the legendary only playlists for people who own the map to play it. But I don't think the gametypes should just be limited to just them. They should make another identicle playlist for those without (or something along those lines)
