Update: According to Joystiq, Bungie's Brian Jarrard explained that the Mythic picture was taken prior to the PAX kickoff and wasn't meant for public consumption. Jarrad then made it clear that the Mythic screen is "really not that exciting" and has "gotten kind of blown out of proportion." We attempted to get someone at Bungie to talk about it, but mum is the word.

As we jet off to our next PAX appointment we thought we'd inform you about the latest and most interesting Halo 3 news bit to come from the PAX show floor that's fourteen times more exciting than Assembly. It's something called Halo 3 Mythic with a multiplayer only menu, version 1.2 marking and, if the above screen grab from the guys over at AddictGaming.com can be trusted, is something to do with Bungie's canceled E3 announcement. Or it could be just a general Halo 3 update. Or it could be something to do with the acceptance videos. Or it could be everything combined. We dunno!

Like we said, the image above was snapped from Bungie's booth at PAX, so (seeing that we're here at PAX) we'll sneak over to the Bungie booth like ninjas and inquire about this mysterious Halo 3 Mythic. Story developing.

Seriously. I gave them PGL cards with NIN's baller Companion Cube Keychains. I'm hoping they remember us. That map was hot sizzle!

I wonder what the dealio is with this. I could see it being leaked on purpose, but who knows. I just want to know when this big announcement is supposed to happen.

We saw these at every booth. Every dev had their own build of the demo they were displaying, and I'm sure that Assembly was just on this, and it's their build screen.

-Vidmaster Challenge: 7 on 7 -- Entered into a ranked or social playlist with 7 EXP on the 7th of the month. 0GS
-Vidmaster Challenge: Annual. After 9/25/08, Completed Halo on 4-player Legendary LIVE Co-op with Iron, and everyone in Ghosts. 0GS; Pic is the the skull with a hammer on the forehead in front is a green marathon symbol with 4 white stars on it
-Vidmaster Challenge: Lightswitch. 0 GS; Pic is a Lieutenant symbol in front of a green marathon symbol.
-Vidmaster Challenge: Brainpan. 25 GS; Pic is 6 skulls stacked into a triangle in front of green marathon symbol.

79 Total Achievements which means 30 new ones. All 30 are listed above. If I counted right, the above accounts for 750 GS, which means Microsoft raised the cap for is star pupil.

Notably, all the ones where the description lists the legendary requirement are 50 GS. Hmm...

If this is true, I cant wait!

Maybe thats the "Mythic" thing that Bungie leaked? I'll have to check the Rumor sections of the new gamermags when they come in the mail. If its a fake, its a damn good one.

EDIT: I just saw at the top of the page that its titled "Mythic expansion" Sounds good and may just reinvigorate my Halo interest.

Is it kinda a big map or is it small and symetrical, Basically is it the type of map mlg would use because they need more maps.
