I never play Halo 3 on line, to many children playing. I may download the maps if they become free and if I can get a friends only game going.

There is a new map pack, coming in *** I think.

EDIT: It's coming in April, according to IGN.

Most definitely. I wasn't really impressed with the Heroic pack but this one promises a "small, symmetrical, arena-style" map, which makes me a happy H3 player.

Isn't that Foundry in a nut shell?

I'll end up buying them. And contrary to opinions posted here already, I think 2 of the maps in the Heroic are awesome. Foundry's great because it's so versatile (people gripe that it's not a good slayer map, but since I'm not one of those guys that only plays slayer I don't care). Standoff, imho, is the best Halo3 map, period. I think it's that good. It's fun for slayer and all the objective-type games. The only one I'm not real big on is the indoor track one.

I'd love it if they would go old-school and offer up some classic maps redone for H3...

Depends on what the remake is for me. I'd say if it's bloodgulch or sidewinder, then I'm definitely in. If it includes a big open map of any kind then I'm probably willing to buy it. I still think that's the one thing Halo 3 is lacking.

One of the maps is supposed to be a huge "almost symmetric" map. There is also one they have codenamed Purple Rain or Reign or something like this. So my guess is they are redoing Sidewinder or Midship.

you mean Chocolate Reign?

and maybe it's just me... but shouldn't map remakes be free? I mean come on, now... if I'm paying for DLC, I want original content. Give me the remakes for free!

"Remakes" are better than "Relight" maps. I'm talking to you GRAW!

Well played!

Remakes are a mixed bag for me. If they bring back a map that was great, and enhanced by the new mechanics of the game, I'm all for it.

There could be the argument that a remake should be included with the game, instead of charging somebody for a "reused" map.

I would argue (damn! my lame ass professor says that all the time!!) that it would be best to have all new maps with the game, so the people who buy the game don't feel cheated. Offering the remake as a map pack allows people to choose if they are willing to pay for a map they have already played.
