New DLC Map Descriptions/Heroic Pack Free

The Weekly What's Update has descriptions of the 3 new maps. I was reading along and saw this:

“Cottonball”

I’ll talk about the biggest one first. And it’s HUGE. For the purposes of this, we’ll codename it Cottonball. I guess a game of Big Team Snipers would be possible, but anything else would be comical without vehicles. This is very much a large scale objective game map – designed first and foremost with CTF and Assault in mind. The map is almost, but not-quite-perfectly symmetrical. Some natural geology prevents each base from being a simple mirror image of the other. I say natural, but the map is set on a Halo, so, natural’s not exactly correct.

The map leads to the kind of long, drawn out megabattles that hearken back to the days of the original Halo and the crucial to and fro of an epic LAN party.

Can I be the first to say, F*** YEAH!

so will the Heroic pack go free at the same time the new pack comes out?

I think the Heroic will be free a little bit before.

All three maps will become available for free download via Xbox LIVE Marketplace in Spring 2008, just prior to the next wave of new Halo 3 multiplayer maps.

Yes. I can't seem to find the specific date, and there might not even be one given.

I paid for the Heroic pack and did not even play them once. I need to quit working so much and play more games

A) The Heroic Map pack will be free this Tuesday, March 25th.

and B) Keezy is always right.

The only one we don't know about right now is nicknamed Moonlight Sonata and my bets are on a Lockout remake since it's been described as both "classic" and "small slayerific." Can't wait!

I dunno about Lockout. I mean Guardian is a re-vision of Lockout. I wouldn't bet my money on there being two takes on the same map in Halo 3. You can bet all the money you want on it though. My guess for "Most Probable" is Midship or Battle Creek.

In reality, I'm not gonna care. I have my Sidewinder-remake. I am the luckiest man in the world.

You're probably right though. Maybe they'll do Battle Creek at night, that might be fun. Maybe it's not even a classic though, even though xbox.com says it is, they've gotten it wrong before.
