What is your favorite new map??

Alright, those of you who have picked up the new maps, what is your favorite one so far? I'm talking out of the box, non-Forged maps.

Foundry:

Rat's Nest:

Standoff:

Wii ID: I have two....
dmiller68 will become famous soon enough

I haven't had a chance to play them yet... 800 points is a lot for 3 maps.

Word. I voted for that too, but didn't want to double post! I love the feel of it. You can see across the whole map, yet you can't really take people out across the map (save snipers). Also, I'm all about rolling hills and vehicles. Hills + vehicles + grenades = Crazy Delicious.

Foundry is obviously the most versatile for Forgery, and is a cluster F by default. I love the indoor mix of vehicles and people on Rat's Nest. I just like Standoff a little bit more.

Is there a sniper rifle on Standoff by default? I haven't gotten sniped yet, and if there isn't, I like it even more now.

I thought of that too. I don't think there is one. The heatmap at Bnet shows no kills by the sniper rifle. That would be a sniper's playground though.

I've not had enough time with Standoff, and I don't really like Rat's Nest. So, for now, I like Foundry the best. But, if I get some time in some Custom Games on Friday night with you guys, then let's do some Standoff.

No sniper rifle on Standoff. Bungie mentioned on the EGM Live podcast that it just breaks the map because of how exposed everything is. A sniper could go off in a corner and dominate the entire map.

I really like Standoff, although I need to play it with fewer people. 6v6 is too much. 4v4 could be a lot of fun.

I really like Foundry, too, in it's base configuration no less. It feels a lot like Hang 'Em High to me. Lots of good long distance shots with reasonable amounts of cover. And then good vertical engagement with the possibility of someone jumping down on top of you for tight quarters action.

Rat's Nest is one of my least favorite maps in the entire game.

Honestly, like others, I'm waiting for a larger map. I'll be content with what's given, but there's definitely more that could be done for the Halo world.

If Foundry were about 4X larger with more bridges, walls, etc. at our disposal, that would be a lot of fun. There is a lot we could do with that.

I almost wish there was some way to incorporate Timesplitter's map customization ability into Halo. It would need a lot of work, but there were so many more options and I remember it being a lot of fun setting up maps on that game.

Anyway, this is probably the wrong place to post that. I don't have a favorite, because I haven't gotten the opportunity to play any of them yet. Just messed around with Foundry in Forge so far.

B.net has a quick and dirty overview of the maps up now.

Alright, I finally played them last night. I'd say my favorite was Standoff.

-Foundry is way too small and I don't think I got more than 1 or 2 kills in the 4 or so games we played there.

-Rat's Nest was alright, but it felt like we were on a race track, driving around in circles and shooting at people until someone blew us up. Kinda boring.

-Standoff is pretty awesome. It's wide open, but hilly and rocky enough that you can find some cover... which usually doesnt last for more than 5 or so seconds. Warthogs in that map were a lot of fun. I expect a little time in forge will make this map even more fun for custom matches.

I haven't played Timesplitters, but I'm assuming you're talking about total map creation?

I think that's the next evolutionary step. It was one of the coolest features about some PC-golf games... you could make your own courses, and people came up with some really, really great ones. It has to be coming for FPS's eventually. Talk about a game really having some replayability...

That's exactly what it was. On Timesplitters, you started by creating the map size, and went from there. That's total map creation. I loved it.

The game wasn't that good, so it didn't catch on. Foundry is the closest thing I've seen to it so far.

I'd like a new map from Bungie, that's just a huge Cube. Nothing inside, but with a huge budget. It'd be great for Forge.
