Lower Floor Layout of Base A
I worked hard on this a lot yesterday with ZoomZoom and Causedawg and then finished it up this morning with Causedawg.
It's got a lot of the Sidewinder features like the classic horseshoe with three paths: - Outside path, elevated with both one-way and two-way teleporters.
- Central path, open for vehicle moevement
- Inner path, elevated and well-shielded from ranged attacks, but maintaining good sightlines
Additionally it features two bases each with: - Two stories with teleporter out
- Grav lift and stairs for easy movement within the base
- Fortified barrier guarding the entrance
- Wide corridors allowing for Mongoose entry all the way to the flag
And my favorite feature: - A gap in the central wall through which a flag can be thrown, but people can not walk through.
Each team gets a Mongoose with fast respawn times. Download the map in my fileshare (slot 2).
I'll post some more pictures and details later. Who wants to play?

Look forward to playing on this map soon!

Great job! | |

Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Austin, TX Age: 25 | I heard you guys played a round or two on my map tonight. I'm flattered. I thought I'd have to seize Party Leadership and then force y'all to play.
From what I heard, it was fast. Really fast. So I'm going back to the drawing board. I'm changing the base layout to make it more like the original Sidewinder. I'm going to redo the outer teleporter path (shorten it to make it more useful). And finally make the midfield less attractive, first by replacing the overshield (with what I don't know) and secondly making it more exposed.
I had Jagger on the map tonight. He wasn't really forging; he was popping all my bubbles. Example: "Oh hey, if you crouch jump here you can get behind all the walls." or "Oh hey, if you grenade jump here you can get from one base to the other in 5 seconds." Thanks, man. *eyes narrow* That's much needed help. *switches to monitor and drops tank* *enters tank* yes, very helpful. (j/k. I want to make the map as bulletproof as possible).
I'm also thinking about beefing up the defenses to slow the pace a bit more, but we'll see.
Post whatever feedback you've got. Thanks.

Ep. I liked the map. When you showed it to us early on, I didn't really know what was going on, but it came together nicely! It was quick, but it seems that anything in Foundry is pretty fast-paced. You're right on about the teleporters though... I totally forgot they were even there. Good job though!!

I played a CTF gametype on this remake earlier today. Gauss Hogs were on it. Overpowered, I think. But there was also a rocket launcher and spartan laser to counter it.
| Apparently, now that my map's out in the wild, someone's already modifying it. Pretty cool. | |

Post whatever feedback you've got. Thanks. | I know I already mentioned this once, but I really think putting machine gun Turrets on the base will help. I also think it might help if you move the flag to a more securable location. If it's going way too fast, you can even put the flag in the back hallway or in that room with the windows. That might be too covered, but it's just an idea.

Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Age: 25 | Another idea: This might be too much, but I think it would be awesome to have machine gun turrets facing down the inner path on both sides. That way, anyone who wants to use that path (which is probably the safest and quickest path currently) will have to counter that.
