Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: South Portland , Maine | GH Question Ok so I tried the demo to GH lll , yes I was using the regular controller and not the guitar controller, but I still have to wonder why is this game fun? Sitting there looking at a scrolling guitar neck with colored dots on it does not seem like a very fun game to me, even if I had the guitar controller. What am I missing, why is everyone so into this game? Could it be because I am a musician it just seems lame to me, or does the guitar controller really add that much to the game? Even with that I would still just be watching the colored dots and hitting the matching buttons on the neck, this is fun? I want to like this game, but I just do see the point.
Please explain. | |

I have to play on Medium, as the Easy level is boring, and makes me feel like what you typed above. But on medium, playing these great songs, like I am actually with the ban is great fun.
It helps standing up, with your guitar, and just rocking out to the song. Come on, even you must think it would be cool to play on the same stage as Pearl Jam or Rush.
I can play a little guitar, but pretending that I am thrashing with the pros is great fun.
I would suggest increasing your difficulty. If you get a chance to play with a guitar, give it a try as well. It does add quite a bit to the game, in regards to playing 'chords'.

I've been playing guitar for about 10 years and the programmers for this game certainly don't take that into account. A lot of the notes are just "off." It's hard to explain. Personally, I'll take a real guitar over GH any day.

Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Bay Area | I tried a real guitar, it was not fun.
I sold it and bought Giutar Hero.
I have had more fun with this series than with any other video game in history, and I am a 45 year old lifelong gamer.
Playing GH with a controller?????????????
How do you expect that would possibly be any fun whatsoever??
When playing a minimum of hard mode, with a waterfall of notes raining down and your fingers going a blur, and you hitting all the notes, without even thinking about it, well it gives a rush of satisfaction not found in any other video game ever.
Being able to play the song without looking at the screen, while rocking out, also is fun.
The most fun is battling against a friend in pro face off and winning the song on the last note after a back and forth battle.
This game is all feel, and you dont get that feel with a controller.
It is ALL about the guitar controller.
Buy the guitar, you will be hooked in a few days.

Chubbs | Chubbs - Brad doesn't drink. To make the perfect game for Brad it would have to have a mix of Horror, Zombies, Back to the future, and a chick with a british accent. That might get him to smile!

It all started back on the PS2 with Amplitude. Same kind of game, only you are playing different parts of the song like vocals, guitar, drums etc. Your only option was the controller!
Since then, thats all Ive used on the GH games.
