GH 3 Donwload content is crap
I though this game was about great guitar players, yet they give us DL contend by bands no one has ever heard of or just plain crap band like Linkin Park? WTF? How about some music with great guitar players like Hendrix , Blackmore, Malmsteen , Van Halen , Joe Satriani , Alex Lifeson , Clapton , to name just a very few. Linkin Park , get real.

I hear that. The younger guitar players these days have no idea what a lead is let alone a great guitar player. A god if you will. They need a Guitar Gods pack. Dimebag, Van Halen, Zakk Wylde, Petrucci, Gilbert, Vai, Satch, Hammett, etc..
At least they have a few Lamb of God in there. At least they did. They are playing some hard ass riffs. How about some bad ass Arch Enemy? Give us bands with guitarists who actually can play from the low e to the high e and back again.

Dreamtheater anyone? I would love to see them on there. They are also Live's Artist of the Month. I've listened to them for a while. I always enjoyed Mike Portney's drumming style.
I have to agree though I do find some of the songs fun to play. I don't take Guitar Hero seriously, it's more a game for just fun. Taking it seriously always got me frustrated!
I don't really get where you think Linkin Park is crap. Sure, they don't sound like the bands from yesterday, but I've heard much worse. Then again, it's all a matter of opinion.

I would kill for some Hendrix. The DLC selection is balls right now, but hopefully it'll get better. I heard a rumor that a "Metal Pack" is on the way, supposed to have Pantera, Megadeth, and a newer, less popular metal band. I didn't hear a release date, but hopefully it'll be early next year.

You all act surprised. There are plenty of songs that are from classics. What gets me, and you can tell, some songs are more promotional for the band. It's not the promotion part that's out of wack, but the fact you have to pay to play it.
I'm not going to gripe about a song I get for free. It's free, and will be still be fun to play. It may not move me like a classic rock song, but that's cool. As much as it would be cool to see Hendrix and so forth, there's probably a few issues with these guys being put on. One, royalities. two, is there an original track or is the artist or band still alive to do a new recording; think of trying to a new recording from the Ramones.
What I would like to see is the ability to play songs from the previous games online without having to buy them as DLC.

lovekeiiy, the majority of the songs on the Guitar Hero's/Rock Band are covers done by musicians that are contracted out through Harmonix. Easiest way to tell is the moniker "Made famous by" before the artist's name. Some of them are pretty good, and some of them are god-awful (remember Killing in the Name on Guitar Hero II?).
The thing is, only two songs on the Marketplace are free right now. You have to pay for the My Chemical Romance and Velvet Revolver packs.

They should just release The Wedding Singer soundtrack, that would make me happy.

I'm aware of GHII having a lot of cover songs; I assume GH1 is nothing but covers. But GH3 is mostly non-covers.
That all said, since this game is a mass distrubition of these songs, they're more than likely having to pay some royalities to the artist/record company. I think they're may be a time limit on covers that require royalities. They maybe rules about different royalities rates depending on close to the original.
Remember, these songs are all dealing with intellectural properties, and thus I'm sure there more legal rules surrounding them than you can shake a stick at.
As mentioned before, I can see why there is charge--royalities and M$. But when the song is less than a year old, I think the content fall more into promoting of a band's record, and thus find it funny we get to pay for to play promotional material (something like the upcoming GT5).

Best remake of a crappy 80's song ever during that one wedding.

Tru dat! I love me some Dream Theater! Between the guitars, vocals and killer drums, that band rocks. I just wished they didn't rely so heavily on the keyboard; I get a bit tired of that after a while.
My wife and I saw them a couple of years ago in a cool venue in Phoenix that is on the smaller side with a rotating stage. We were in the 3rd row and loved it, but they chose not to play "Pull Me Under." What the crap?

I d/led the Reprise pack last night for the Mastodon track. Pretty good, I just wish I could've bought it by itself.
