I'm with you Brian. None of my RWF's play video games so I couldn't really enjoy the ish outta this game. Now if I could play online with PGL'ers, that would be awesome!!

Rockband goes far beyond a videogame, it is a life changing experience.
On the equipment:
The Guitar hero guitars are mere toys compared with the Rockband Strat, which is a direct copy of the original, just downsized a bit.
It feels more like a real guitar than any of the GH guitars with the kiddie fret buttons.
The GH guitars are a joke.
The strumbar, which is louder than most peoples, (not mine) audio systems are very annoying.
They dont accuratly register strums correctly, the wireless models are complete crap, with a slight delay that has never been addressed.
The old wired SG played well, but it was well, wired.
The PS3 Rockband Strat is wireless, and works fantastic.
Did you know that Guitar hero actually adds notes in expert to make it seem more challenging?
I prefer to play the songs as realistically as possible on a plastic guitar.
As far as difficulty, Rockband has much more potential.
I played "Working Man" by Rush in expert, well tried to, failed.
You want a challenge?
Give it a shot.
Think you are too good to play expert guitar, think it's boring??
Try playing guitar and singing at the same time.
Or try playing the drums and singing at the same time.
You got that move?
Very difficult.
Playing the drums is much more like playing real drums than playing the toy guitar is to a real guitar, and to be honest, singing IS real, and where the most talent can be realized, because it trancends the game, into reality.
GH has none of that.
There is nothing satisfying about playing either game solo, lets get that straight, the beauty of Rockband lies in the extreme cohesion of 4 friends actually playing in a rockband, complete with all the interactions that go with it. This game was designed to be played 4 player.
Get yourself 3 friends and try it again. LOUD.
This is a Rock and Roll simulator, not just a game. It goes well beyond what is on the screen, or what comes from the speakers.
I am working on a huge review of this game which should be up in a few days.
This will focus on the good, and the bad.
As for the cost?
Who cares how much, it costs us pennies an hour to play, the money is not the object of a game like this.
It is all about the life experience it offers, it's real.

It's cool man. Whatever floats your boat. I hope you didn't take what I said personally. I was just expressing my disagreement with your statements.

I think what Brad said about not taking it too seriously is ultimately what you have to do. If you're gonna take it too seriously, and you have four faithful friends who always want to play, I'd just start a real band.
..But that's just me.
Rockband is a fun game. I had a Christmas Party and about 30 people showed up back in December. I had literally 20+ people crammed in my Den, and every single one of them were either watching or playing Rock Band. The party was 100% consumed by it. Even though it wasn't what I intended to happen, everyone had a blast. So, I definitely think that party presence is something that Rockband has over GH3.
On the other hand, I personally prefer GH3 to Rockband. My favorite thing to play is the Guitar, and since the entire game of GH3 is centered around that, it's easier and more fun for me to just jam on that every once in a while when I pick it up. I also really enjoy the occasional multiplayer jam sessions I can play on Live.
Back to the original thread topic: To anyone who hasn't purchased the classic rock track pack, the songs really are good and are a blast to play. I highly recommend you check them out. Boston and Journey are a lot of fun.

Same boat here - which is why I was reluctant to pick it up at first... but - I'm definitely glad I did!
It's one of the few games that my WIFE really got into!!! She can play a helluva bass!!
The fact that the Band World Tour mode doesn't work over Live does indeed suck - and if the 'rumor' to fix that has finally been confirmed - then sweet!! But even w/o BWT - you can still do Quickplays over Live w/ your buddies....
You don't get kicked out of your lobby (thank gawd) - so you can jump from one song to the next - and while you don't get an accumulating score, everyone gets rated at the end of each song. It works great!
Up for 4 players on Live - and you can mix it up - 2, 3, or 4 players - 3 in one house / 1 remote - all 4 at different locations etc... We've had LOTS o' jam sessions!! Tons o' fun! If you ever do pick it up - I'll rock with ya - or any other PGL'rs out there!!
I keep buying all of the add on songs, but haven't had time to play them yet!!
