GHIII and GHII guitar?

Im having an impossible time getting the GHIII bundle before xmas. But the GHIII game standalone is widely available.

My question: If I pick up the GHIII game and a GH 2 guitar separately, aside from loosing 20 bucks and the wireless feature, is there any functionality lost?

I could always get the wireless guitar after xmas when all the ebay whores return their unsold treasures.

Also, I was thinking of getting it for the Wii instead of the 360. Are they identical? Can you play on live with the 360 version.

Thanks for your help!!
Rick

I think you can battle people over Live. Big seller over the Wii version, IMO. And I;m also pretty sure the GH2 guitar works fine with GH3.

I actually like the buttons on the explorer controller better. They have a little bit more resistance and for some reason I play better with it. The les paul is nice but the explorer works just fine as long as you don't sit 20 feet away from your tv. I would say that distance away from tv should be the biggest factor from the controller standpoint, but you can play live on 360 so if I were you I would take that route.

On thing to remember if you play on a big screen or if your 360 is inconveniently located... you'll have to buy a USB cable extender for the wired GH2 guitar, which can be pricey. I did it for my GH2 guitar. It was worth it -- not saying it's not-- just remember that in the bundle price with the wireless guitar.

I played the GHIII demo with the GH2 guitar last night, and it worked fine.

There's something about having a wireless guitar that's really awesome. I would probably rather get rid of the game than get a wired one, but that may be because there's quite a distance between my 360 and my seating area.

If you don't have that issue, then I'd say it's not that big a deal. Still worth it if you can get wireless, though. In my opinion of course.

And my second Gamestop just got a few in and had 1 left for the 360!!!

Thanks for the great info and quick responses as usual!!

I'll be windmilling like Pete Townshend right after xmas. If the kids let me play.

Rock on!

Just for future reference, I actual prefer the wired GH2 guitar over the wireless GH3 one. A 6ft USB extension cable can be purchased at Target or Walmart for about $6 each. I have two hooked up inline and almost never have any issues with the cord getting in the way.

For people getting into GH, I wouild buy both 2 and 3. That way you get two guitars and a bunch of songs.

Congrats on the find. I got the GHII used with no guitar. I just had an issue with the guitar being wired; it seems so anti-next generation. I also have my 360 sitting on a entertainment rack.

Yes, you can play the GHII with the wireless guitar just fine.

As for the Wii, there will be no DLC. Same song sets for all versions, but without the DLC, means no boss battle song packs, no halo theme and so forth. Also, the online play is quirky like the rest of the Wii online games; I believe you have do the whole friend code thing on the game.

Agreed, I have both guitars and I always use the Explorer. I like it more then the Les Paul. The way my wrist rests on the body of the guitar while strumming is much more comfortable for me on the Explorer. It actually hurts after a while on the Les Paul.
