GTA IV - 360 vs PS3 Video comparison
Just found via xbox360fanboy that gamevideos has a video comparison of the 360 and PS3. From what I can tell the colors might be a bit richer on the PS3. I still need to watch it a few more times to make sure. You can download the hd version to compare which is better than watching the streaming version.
What do you all think?

I think the PS3 version looks great in other people's living rooms.
I've only got one option here, lol. Kinda like comparing the ride of my '97 Landcruiser to a new Range Rover. It's pretty irrelevant as I won't be riding around in one any time soon. The game looks good to me on both consoles, but I only care about the 360 version.

The GTA4 menu allows you to adjust saturation of the colors, brightness and contrast, so people should be able to make both versions similar and adjust for their specific set.

Good point, I forgot about that. I really see no visual difference between the two other than the color difference. I can't see the point in getting this for PS3 if you have a 360, since you can get acheivements and the episodic content (whatever it will be). Is there anyone who bought this for PS3 and they have a 360? If so why?

i agree with you crippler, its hard to compare if its not identical images
i just called my local blockbuster, ill be renting the 360 version tonight and ill be getting the ps3 version from gyg, so i will be able to witness the differences, i dont know all the techno lingo, but ill be able to say which looks better heh
the biggest thing to me is the online playability, if the ps3 version doesnt have a good system for inviting friends its not even a thought, i will not buy it on that system, i dont care if the graphics were twice as good

exactly. What I've noticed is that some times the game does look oversaturated but other times it looks more realistic (PS3 version). Basically all the settings adjusted the game doesn't really seem to adjust consistantly throughout the day and night, same goes for the blurryness.
As for the two systems, I haven't played the 360 version yet. Basically sounds like more pop (shown in video comparisons as well) in on the 360 and lower res (640 versus 720) on the PS3. Shorter load times on the PS3 after the 7 mandatory 7 minute install.
Really seems pretty subjective as peoples opinions are all over the place on this one. A clear sign that they are pretty close when shots are getting zoomed in to 400% to see what looks better, lol

Draw distance comparison. Make your own conclusions.
The helicopter in the PS3 shot is closer to that area circled also. But that area isn't the only place where objects aren't being drawn. The city skyline is also missing a ton of detail in the PS3 version. Is it the weather? Maybe. Maybe not. I know, maybe the PS3 is also Folding@Home in the background while playing GTA4.
This video also shows the Vaseline filter (as it's now being called) on the PS3 version.

FAIL! Poor kitty.
That video makes the PS3 look noticeably blurrier, but I suppose that could be many factors. The driving scenes though you can really notice it.

For anyone interested, as of end of business today, the 360 version is outselling the PS3 version 13 to 1. It is an easy stat to track, since we have sold 13 of the 360 copies and 1 PS3 copy. I was really hoping this game would help our PS3 sales. No such luck. On that note though, we have cheap used PS3 games right now, so check out the site.
