Now you're getting repetitive. Was that just a line?
(or alternatively... that's what she said.)

I'm not writing it off yet, but I am kinda bored. Do you guys think the reviewers got together and kinda over hyped it as sort off a big "F" YOU" to the government because of the hot coffee scandel. Rockstar took alot of heat and video games in general were getting a bad wrap. If this story don't open up soon I'm gonna have to trade it in (and i never trade in)

My first impression? As a non-GTA4 owner, waaayyy too many people on my FL own this game. No intentions of buying it, though. Saints Row and Crackdown were enough "sand box" for me. Not that I didn't enjoy them, but I just don't have the time to commit to those types of games.

That was exactly my first thought too, Zoom, but I decided to pick it up anyway mostly for the MP and the fact that I could play whenever I'm in the mood.
I don't concern myself very much completing these 'sand box" games 100%. I take my time playing through the SP at my own pace. I know at some point I'll get stuck trying to complete a mission that's nearly impossible to complete and I'll end up giving up on the SP but I'll always have the MP to enjoy.

I think you guys just have it all wrong... If you're only expectation is to have a starting point and an ending point in GTA, yeah - you're probably going to be disappointed.
It's all about cruising, man. Jack a car, find some tunes, and just drive. Or walk around the city and take it in, listen to the wackos... Some thugass just bump into you? Oh, now he's talking trash? Put a bullet in his skull. Hmmf - homey aint talkin so big now. LOL
It's more about exploring and just taking crap as it comes - I like sandbox games like this & played GTA all day yesterday & had a blast. If you're more of a 'get the most kills in 10 minutes' kind of gamer, this won't be for you & you're a freak.

I would enjoy a mission or two. I played for way to long not knowing what to do. I reached the point today that has me enforcing for Vlad. If I was missing something thats the games fault. I've got 6 plus hours in and just had a Jamacan dude give me a gun. WTF, if I'm missing something let me know

There's guns all over the place on the map. I haven't done the Vlad thing yet - I have a knife, a pistol, a shotgun, and managed to get an assault rifle from one of the cops at the airport.
You just gotta take it if you want it!

If the core gameplay, mainly the combat and shooting was better I'd get sucked into doing exactly what you described quite a bit.. I'm really hoping the clunky gameplay grows on me with practice but the gameplay itself is what is really holding me back. Other aspects, especially the physics when crashing and flying through a windshield and off a bike are very nice.
