Unfortunately my xbox 360 crapped out the other day. I was updating a simple roster for FIFA 09 and the video cut out. I still have sound but no picture. I think I've had my unit since the summer of '05. I never bought a warranty or anything so I was wondering what my options may be. I took the console to my brothers house to make sure it wasn't my cables. This blows!
Give them a call first (1-800-4MY-Xbox) and see what is what before you ship it out. I have a bad feeling that this might not be covered considering how old your system is. I think the RROD is the only thing that has the extended 3-year warrenty on it.

Thanks, Sam. And I'm betting your probably right about it not being covered. I'll find out soon enough...
I just had to shell out for a new arcade system yesterday because mine finally got the RRoD. Rather than repair the old one for $100, just buy a new system for $200. I believe that the new systems have hardware that is red ring free anyway. You may wind up getting it repaired and a month later it craps out for good. Besides, 2-3 weeks with no gaming is just not an option in my opinion. Good luck man.
Buying an arcade unit is your easiest but most expensive solution, the above is your cheapest, and sending it to Microsoft is somewhere in between. If you decide to try and fix it yourself like the link above suggests, let me know... I'll help.
