360 live help tried alot D:

Ok now i got my 360 a while ago and to save from buying a 90ft ethernet cable or the £70 wireless device i used my laptops shared internet connection which works but on the test connection page my nat is strict.

I've tried port forwarding dmz cant figure out how to at least make it moderate on the test connection page.

I wired my 360 to my laptop put share connection on for the wireless and i can play most games just gta4 is a pain.

Any help?

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with how you have it set up, but I bet someone here is. NAT's are a tricky beast.

Yeah, going through the computer complicates things even more. I remember back in the day, the Xbox had a card explaining the different types of hookups, and that one was not recommended.

Routers are CHEAP, dude. Just spend $40 and get one. (of course, convert that to your local currency, as applicable)

If it's wireless, then just get a wireless network adapter for your 360.

Try updating your firmware on the router that can help a lot. As for a cheap solution for an ethernet cable if you know any cable installers they usually have spools of cat 5 or 6 on their truck and if you ask they might help you out and make you a 100 ft cable for a couple bucks.

The NAT may be set to strict by your router and you may have to change the settings in that. I would say the easiest way to manage your connection to your box would be to cut the laptop out and just buy some CAT6 or go for the wireless adapter, either of those would save you tons of hassle.

Honestly you didn't give enough information to really solve your solution. I had some problem getting my 360 wireless adapter to work when I first got it, so I did the ad-hoc connection. Unfortunately xbox.com doesn't have the guide to setup that way.

I can't explain how to do it using a Mac computer, but you should get the jest from Windows explanation. Basically, you'll need to go into your network settings on your laptop connections properties in the network area. You'll then need to go into the properties, go to the advance tab, and check the box for "allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection." If you have 360 and network setup for DHCP, the box should be assigned an IP by the router. If not, I would suggest assigning one to the 360 outside the routers DHCP range. It should be noted, in the settings area for the internet sharing, none of the services apply for gaming, so if you're not getting a open nat on the 360, you'll need to manual add all the ports to open.

Unfortunately, this is not going to save you much grief in the resetting of the router. You're more than likely still going to have disconnect problems. Oddly enough, if I were to guess, since it's only the wireless connections loosing their connections, it's probably the security settings for the wireless. I had the same problem. I had to change the settings such as the kind of WPA and to use and Passcode encryption type. The router wasn't able to support exactly what I wanted with the wireless cards.

If that doesn't work, either get new wireless cards for the wireless devices or a different router. That's ridicously to have to reset the router three to four times a day. I get annoyed when I have to do it all.

Sorry for the change of subject, but I have to say that I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what "D:" was. First I thought maybe you were calling out DLitch... and then thought maybe you were talking about the 'D' Drive on your pc. I finally realized just now that it's a frown face. Apparently you guys do it backward from the way we do it. Anyway, that is all.

you would set the IP from your 360. Just make sure it's in the same subnet of your network. Example, say your subnet for your LAN is 192.168.11.1 (this would be the gateway). The DHCP range is from 2-100. You could set the 360 to 192.168.11.151.
