New to Firefox..please help!

So I have Firefox but have mainly been using the good 'ol IE to surf around, (I don't want to hear it). I saw the thread about the FireNES app that Peench posted and after attempting to install was warned that my Firefox was not up to date. I need to install a Java app and probably a few other things to get it up to speed. Am I being specific enough? Can somebody point me in the right direction for a quick fix? Hook me up my PGL brutha's.

P.S. Also I am internet and PC retarded so speak s..l..o..w..l..y OK. Thanks.

Well Litch, my g/f picked it up because IE wouldn't work for some of her college web shiz. I'll check when I get off work but I'm pretty sure it's FF2.

Go download the FF3 RC2 version. FF3 is insanely better than 2.

THANKS CRIPP!!! Litch has been no help. Do you know if the Java and other crap is included with the d/l? And do I need to uninstall FF2 before or after the said d/l? Also, is/are there any apps you guys recomend for FF? I'm sending you lower gas prices 'cuz I can totaly do that.

Uninstall FF2. Then download and install FF3. Java is always a separate download.

Try a search for firefox extensions. There is a thread that has a ton of our favs in it.

Has anyone else noticed this problems with firefox3?

I installed ff3 a few weeks ago. For about a week now I have been getting this error off and on:

Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

I've been getting this with a lot of different websites (PGL, EAsports.com, XBOX.com, yahoo.com). I checked with ie7 and have not had any problems.

This is happening both at home and at work. Same laptop different networks.

Two, I haven't experienced any problems like that. The only problem I've had is Flash running wonky...But really, when doesn't Flash run wonky?

There is absolutely no reason one should not be using FF3. It kills all other browsers in speed, security, and any other aspect you can think of for a web browser. Try Gmail with IE7 and then with FF3. You'll notice the difference.

Hey Cripp, thanks for the help. I ended up installing the FF3 beta version and really like it! Should I uninstall the beta before DL'ing the true version? Thanks again man.

Ah welcome to firefox! You should be able to go to the help tab and just click on check for updates to get FF3. If that doesn't work just download it and install. Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable I would suggest this as an add on its great. It blocks anything that starts in flash from playing. If you want to see what it is then click on it and the flash item will start like normal. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433

I love me some firefox and I am smug as a mac user about FF3 its amazing. I aint neva going back to anything else. Except for when I need IE to load certain flash videos.

I am hesitant to go with FF3. We recently had an issue where all of our bookmarks randomly disappeared, and it was a pain to get them all back. I'm nervous that, if we upgrade, we'll lose something again.
