Not counting the issues of late with Xbox Live due to the mass influx of new users, some users have experienced issues when attempting to sign onto Messenger on their Xbox 360. One of our Members (Gordon) went through quite a bit of troubleshooting until he finally discovered the culprit - his password was too long.
In this day and age of security awareness, having a long password is generally recommended. But if you are attempting to log onto your Messenger account through your Xbox 360, having a long password will only give you a headache.
So what is the magic number?
Fifteen (15).
If your password is 15 characters or less you should not have a problem. Anything more than 15 and you will have a problem signing on to Messenger with your Xbox 360.
If you've been having trouble signing on to Messenger, get out your abacus and count up the number of characters in your password. If the number is more than 15, you'll have to log onto your Messenger account with your PC and shorten your password. Once shortened you should be good to go.
