My brother called me yesterday and he wanted to get my nephew hooked up to Live, he bought him the basic 360 a few years ago without the hard drive. This Christmas he wanted to get him the 360 wireless adapter but they were sold out and ended up getting him the Linksys WGA54G adapter and we can't get his router to recognize it. He is just using the wireless router that came with the Verizon DSL. I am not sure which router it is unfortunately I didn't look, and I tried to look online but they don't really say which one it is.
When I hook the Linksys into the 360 it keeps telling me I need to install the software, I installed it on his computer but then it can't find the adapter even if I hook the adapter into another PC. I am not sure what to tell him, especially since I still run mine wired. | |

| I'm not familiar with that device, but it looks like you connect ethernet cord to it from the 360, and the adapter talks to your router wirelessly. If previous experience from other devices--VOIP, printer servers--you'll need to connect it to the router via the ethernet cable first, do all the settings, and when everything works, then connect it to the 360. | |

| Found this on Xbox.com Quote:
Linksys WGA54G
Version 1.10
This firmware version is Xbox Live Compatible.
Note To save WEP settings for the WGA54G, the hardware switch on the device must be set to INFRASTRUCTURE mode. If the hardware switch is set to AD-HOC mode, no WEP settings will be saved. See the instructions provided with the WGA54G for details about how to adjust this switch.

| The best bet is wired or the official Xbox 360 wireless adapter. Both of those options have worked flalessly for me. | |
