Hey, just to look at this from another perspective - at least the posts are thought out and written well and on topic... Give some slack, yo. Who cares about the arcade - isn't having a required post count's entire purpose to encourage... posting?

Just my two cents. I'll shut up now.

All of the posts I have seen him make have been better than the stuff that I used to post so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. He is on topic and thinking out what he is typing like thornes said so I'd say its no big deal. But its also not up to us to decide anyways.

True. And playing in the arcade isn't based on post amounts anymore.

Manuals are great, but there are some potential issues. The local Blockbuster puts the manuals in the rentals, but than they don't always get them back. Ouch!!! That could be an issue here, especially in terms of being able to allow the customer to keep the game later.

I think a PDF version of the manual online would work best. Or, perhaps charge a fine for missing manuals. Or a higher fee. Something to discourage missing manuals and encourage them to be kept with the envelope.

One added benefit is that the manual would provide extra protection in shipping, but would likely add a few cents.

Good food for thought though.

I DO use the manual, especially with the sports games, that aren't the easy button mashers they used to be.

I haven't seen the envelope, but I assume it's similar in size to Netflix. So putting in the manual will not work. I would either add a piece of paper with the control scheme, or have it printed on the side the game sleeve (or whatever key info would be good for the game renter to know).

I still think a PDF copy of the manual would be the best option, since most gamer probably don't read manuals.

The control scheme can be found on most games in the menu so I don't think its needed for GYG to tackle this headache

I agree Bryan. But some people are too ignorant or lazy to actually look. Thus, is way I said what ever info may be important for the game.

Since I've never done a mail game rental, the specialize envelopes may be cost prohibitive too. If they're blank and can use for any game, then envelopes designed for one game can be used for others. The Netflix envelopes are generic. They just slap on stickers that's movie specific.

I still think the PDF or a webpage with either the manual or key info would work best. I don't see that much more traffic for the site, so the other than the time to create it, it should still be a low cost.

Great points! The issue that we're running into is in terms of licensing and copywritten materials. We have to be very careful about what is posted on the site. But, we've got some feelers out to determine the true extent of the licensing issue.

Well, IIRC, this actually was the issue back in the days when you rented cartridge games at the video store. Most of the places started putting copies of the manual, as opposed to the originals. Game companies got mad (Nintendo mostly) and sued. But, it turned out to be a fair use issue and nothing came of it.

Gamefly is posting the PDF images. And, there are companies that post them, as well as sell them.
