Ron Paul Is Money
Quote:
Mark it down: A landmark moment entered the annals of political fundraising Nov. 5, 2007. If Texas Republican Ron Paul's Web site fundraising meter is to be believed, the Libertarian candidate, who has lagged in the polls but raised as much money as top-tier candidates, passed $3 million in online fundraising in less than 24 hours.
Paul's Haul May Set Online Record
It was a big deal back in 2000 when Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., raised $1 million online in the 24 hours after his upset victory over then-Gov. George W. Bush in the New Hampshire primary.
McCain's impressive take was seen as the birth of online fundraising -- a moment when online donors gained considerable respect.
Paul raised just over $5 million in the most recent fundraising quarter, which ended September 30. The campaign has set an official goal of raising $12 million between Oct.1 and the end of 2007.
As of midnight Sunday, Nov. 4, the Paul campaign claimed to have raised $2.77 million.
Monday's drive was coordinated by an independent Web site but received the tacit endorsement of Paul on the stump this week.
He told supporters at a rally in Columbia, S.C., that the mainstream media is more likely to pay attention if he raises more money. And that attention will lead to more mainstream voters hearing his message.

Good for him - too bad this whole race seems to be about money & not the issues. Paul is a standup guy and I think a lot of people are sick of the "norm."
Just a thought - why is it so important about how much money the candidates raise? Hmmm.... It wouldn't be because the news agencies reporting how much money each candidate raises, are the same agencies who will be benefiting by selling airtime, would it?

We've been emailing about this for the last week or so. I didn't participate in this one, but I dropped a few bucks on the last 'money bomb'. The theme was 'Remember, remember, the 5th of November'. Man I love this guy.
Edit- it's so cool that he even used our tagline in the video haha!

There's a place alongside the freeway where a bunch of (looks like) college kids wave Paul banners around, everyday. I guess there's the 10 Paul voters over here in the PacNW...

Sadly the voting process virtually destroys multiple options for president in the US. It's better for people to vote for the lesser of two evils that will win, verses the dark horse.

Voting for the lessor of two evils... haha. That's what we thought we were doing when we voted for George Bush. In his second election, we realized there was no such thing as a lessor of two evils in the scale of the US Presidency, so I decided to vote for someone I wouldnt be ashamed to tell my kids I voted for some day... and that was Reverand Al Sharpton.
In reality, if there isn't a Pat Buchanan, an Alan Keyes, or a Ron Paul out there to vote for, I don't really see the point in voting.
