My Zune got jacked!

On Sunday evening, I think my daughter left my Zune near the street or something, and now it is gone forever. On Monday morning I could not find it, and asked her where it went. She has no idea!

She thinks she may have been sitting on the porch watching the Simpsons on it, but has no idea where she put it when she was done. She thinks she may have put it on the living room coffee table though. On Monday, we had two deliveries made to my house, so I'm thinking if it was sitting out, it got jacked.

My other theory was that on Monday, I was robbed, and the only thing that was taken was my Zune. That is really hard to believe!

So, I am looking for a cheap Zune, used or new. I also found the below device that just came out, and may consider getting one for my birthday, Sept. 24th, unless I can find a deal on a Zune.

ARCHOS 605

Amazon.com Product Description
The Archos 605 generation 5 portable media player comes with a convenient WiFi feature, an attribute that offers the fastest and easiest way to access digital entertainment. You can use the built-WiFi capabilities of the Archos to download online media content from the Archos content portal: All you need is a usable WiFi connection, and you're good to start downloading (fees may apply). With the Archos in hand, for the first time you can download favorite movies, TV shows, and music wherever you are, without being tied to the PC or Mac. Other great features include a full-color 4.3-inch touchscreen that crams in an amazing 800 x 480 picture resolution for superior picture quality, 30 GB of built-in memory, and multiple options for additional storage (the player accepts SD mini and SD micro memory cards).

The Archos 605 features a touch screen, high quality screen resolution, and WiFi capabilities. View larger View bottom - View side.

Download your favorite movies, TV shows, and music, and bring it with you.

With full Internet access, the player's Opera browser plug-in offers Adobe Flash support, which lets you access and enjoy YouTube and other Web video sites on your Archos device. By using the player, you can view and post YouTube videos wherever you are with an active wireless connection. In addition to downloading media straight from the Archos content portal, you can stream and watch videos from your home PC or laptop. For added video playback versatility, the player is compatible with MPEG4, AVI, and WMV video files. The player features robust music playback features, too. On-board music file playback capabilities support MP3, CBR, VBR, WMA, protected WMA, and WAV files.

To help round out the player's multimedia superiority, the Archos even comes with photo viewing capabilities. JPEG, BMP, and PNG files are 100 percent compatible with the player, and the player can pull up PDFs for portable review -- an ideal means to take bigger documents or e-books in PDF format on the road with you. Because of the Archos's USB 2.0 compatibility, files can be quickly transferred to the device in the absence of a WiFi network connection. Charging the device can also be accomplished with an active USB connection. (An AC adapter is sold separately for additional charging options.) Other great features include mass storage capabilities, automatic firmware downloads, and a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack. With an advanced Li-Poly battery, the player supports up to 17 hours of continuous music playback, and 5.5 hours of continuous video playback. Weighing in at a scant 6.7 ounces, the Archos generation 5 605 measures 4.8 by 3.2 by 0.6 inches.

I guess those Zune security cases for the IPhone do not work so well...

I love my Zune but you might want to look around. Who ever took it might have thought it was an Ipod. AS soon as they find out it's not they might chuck it back on the ground.
When are they coming out with a Zune with a larger hard drive? 30GB is not nearly enough.

That ARCHOS looks SWEET! Be careful of the additional cost of the plug ins as described here...http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/field-not...pmp-268985.php

Yeah, I saw the add ons. I think I would be good with just the web one (a MOST have!)

I used my Zune for 99% video. This Archos 605 has a 4.3 inch screen, which would be better suited to my mobile viewing needs. It also has built in speakers so I could actually watch without head phones if I so desire. Plus the web browers would just be super cool.

Here is a REALLY good read on the Archos 605, oh it was translated from French, so some of the words are confused.

HUGE REVIEW

Near the bottom of each page is a selection to jump to the next part of the review. I think there are over 10 pages!

Man that sucks.

I have a 4GB Sansa e260, my first and only MP3 player, but it doesn't work. My brothers took it with them when they went on a fishing trip, after I told them not to. One of them put it in his pocket, and preceded to go swimming. He drowned it , so now it's sitting on my desk, no longer able to play music for me...

When are they coming out with a Zune with a larger hard drive? 30GB is not nearly enough.

Soon. They have an 80 gb coming out within the next month or so. On the Zune topic, it will be interesting to see what comes out of Universal not renewing their contract for video content with I-Tunes. They currently account for 40% of video on I-tunes and are also a major partner with Microsoft on the Zune (Universal makes $1 on each Zune sold). This is pure speculation on my part, but it would be nice to see the Zune Marketplace start doing video alongside the launch of the new models (80, 8 and 4gb, I believe), especially if you were able to somehow tie Zune Marketplace in with 360 Video Marketplace. The points are already connected, so why not the service? We are due for a dashboard update around that same time, so...
Remember, pure speculation on my part.
