Rock Band Announces new tracks: Rolling Stones, Nine Inch Nails Inclu

via ShackNews

Quote:
European gamers can rest assured that they too will be able to play Harmonix Music Systems' fittingly named rock band simulator Rock Band--but they'll have to wait until next year. Harmonix, owner MTV Games, and publisher Electronic Arts today announced the game will hit PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and newly-announced target system PlayStation 2 in Europe in "early 2008."

The announcement reiterated the official holiday 2007 date for PS3 and Xbox 360 in North America; no mention of the PS2 version was made for the region. Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos has stated outright that Rock Band will arrive on Wii as well, though no official announcement has been made.

European releases will feature additional included and downloadable content specific to their local territories. No such tracks were specifically named.

New master recordings to be included in the retail release--presumably worldwide, though applicable regions were not named--were also announced:
- Radiohead, "Creep"
- The Clash, "Should I Stay or Should I Go"
- Rolling Stones, "Gimme Shelter"
- Beastie Boys, "Sabotage"
- Nine Inch Nails, "The Hand That Feeds"
- Faith No More, "Epic"
- Smashing Pumpkins, "Cherub Rock"
- Deep Purple, "Highway Star"
- Jet, "Are You Gonna Be My Girl"
- OK Go, "Here It Goes Again"

Continue reading for the full list of announced tracks to date. Unless otherwise indicated, all songs are original master recordings(!):

- David Bowie, "Suffragette City"
- Black Sabbath, "Paranoid" (cover recording)

- The Ramones, "Blitzkrieg Bop"
- Deep Purple, "Highway Star"

1980s
- Rush "Tom Sawyer" (cover recording)
- Bon Jovi "Wanted Dead or Alive"
- The Clash "Should I Stay or Should I Go"
- Faith No More "Epic"

1990s
- Foo Fighters, "Learn to Fly"
- Metallica, "Enter Sandman"
- Nirvana, "In Bloom"
- Stone Temple Pilots, "Vasoline"
- Weezer, "Say It Ain't So"
- Smashing Pumpkins, "Cherub Rock"
- Radiohead, "Creep"
- Beastie Boys, "Sabotage"

2000s

- Queens of the Stone Age, "Go With the Flow"

Harmonix plans to release new material, in album and individual track form, for download on a weekly basis. The first album to be sold online will be Who's Next by The Who.

Shacknews has contacted the parties involved for more information regarding the different versions of Rock Band.
The fact that Go With the Flow is on there is great, GHIII will also have 3s & 7s. I like the QOTSA love!!

I'll pass on Rock Band. Guitar Hero III looks interesting, but I don't know if I'll shell out $90 again, if only for the fact that I already got rid of Guitar Hero II.

Edit: Just saw that Tom Sawyer was covered on Rock Band. That makes it a little more tempting, but considering how they buthcered the majority of the songs on GHII, I won't hold my breath.
