I have the best fiancee!

Got home yesterday and she surprised me with a brand new black 80Gb video Ipod. I have been holding out on the Ipod thing forever but I just recently started thinking now may be the time to get one, after the wedding of course.

Now I am a Ipod Noob so if anyone has any suggestions on what accessories to get or anything else please tell me.

Only suggestion I have is to at least check out the YamiPod website.

I have it on both my iPods.. can't stand iTunes.

Interesting.

Can you play music over the 360 using this software instead of iTunes?

And, can you still you itunes to purchase music or will itunes try to take over?

I used to use Yamipod, you should definitely check it out. Features wise, it doesn't really hold a candle to iTunes, which is why I went back, especially with all the mac add-ons for iTunes, although I doubt those are available for the PC.

Plus, when I had it, it doesn't stream to the 360, that may have changed though. 360 Connect only streams through iTunes for me, but again, that's mac.

If you mean by plugging the iPod into the 360.. then yeah. If you mean can you stream music to the 360 with the program.. then no. That's what WMC is for. Unless you're on a Mac.. then I don't know.

From what I understand that should work.. but I can't say for sure. Haven't touched iTunes since I started using YamiPod. Which was quite a while ago.. iTunes v4 I believe.

Well One of the first things you should get, Which is what i would do and did, is get a FM Transmitter, so you can listen to your Ipod through your Car Stereo. plus if you get one specifically for the IPOD (Which they have SO FREAKIN many ie: Monster, Belkin) it will Charge & Play it. Must have for every person who Drives and has an Ipod.

Unless you live in or near a metropolis. In which case, good luck finding a station that is complete static.

X2 on the fm transmitter. If your car doesn't already have the port than get a car stereo that does. It won't charge it but the static is horrible sometimes. $40 for a transmitter or $99 for a headunit.

Yeah FM transmitter for you ipod is pretty rough especially if you're into your music, the static is unbearable. If you have a Domestic car or Japanese car they have a interface at Best Buy to use the stock head unit unless you have an aftermarket or want to get an aftermarket head unit that supports an ipod. If you have a german car, type USA Spec Ipod interface into google and you'll be able to get some info on those ones.

Awesome! Congrats Woundup! And way to go Mel (if you're checking in).

I recently installed a DICE unit in my car so now I Can control my iPod w/ the steering wheel controls and it displays the song, artist and album on the dash. Pretty cool stuff. If they have one for your car it is pretty easy to install (or at least if you don't have a car like mine where you have to remove the entire back seat!! haha. I will try to post pics later!

I actually am very into car stereos and have an extremely high end system in my car. The head unit I have has all the connections I need for this application so as soon as I can I will be getting it setup.
