| Should I sell my DVD collection? Looking for opinions from everyone here. I have a pretty large collection of DVD movies that I am thinking of selling off. With new technology starting to pick up in the HD area and I myself having a Bluray player, I thought now may be the time to start over and get rid of my DVD's while they still have some value. Please tell me your thoughts on this and what would you do.
Plus, with it being so close to our wedding I could use the extra cash, but this will not be a deciding factor because it would only be a convenience not a necessity.

If you don't go that route, Woundup, you're right-- better now than never. If you're planning on going Blue-Ray with your collection, I'd sell off the stuff you have now before it's totally worthless. I was just telling Peench the same thing about his BeeGee's 8-tracks...

I'm thinking about selling the other 300 or so but some I'm not sure well be coming to a HD format soon. So I'm not sure I want to sell all of them yet.

I just upgraded the 8-track player in my ride. I can now see song titles scrolling across the display in the dash. AWESOMENESS!!
I voted yes. I have sold off a handfull of my DVD's and should sell the rest as well. I know there's a website called spinrecords or something like that who will buy them from you, you just ship them to em. I sold mine in bulk, which seemed to net about $2-3 per title. Not a bad deal and better than most trade in places.
I like the troop donation Brew. Do you have contact information for that?

It would be a nice thing to do for those of you that never served. At least you can take pride in knowing that you helped some sailor or soldier not think about dying or war for an hour and a half.

| I'm considering the same thing, too, woundup. I voted yes. Honestly, hardly any of them I want to watch now, some of them it's simply because they're not that great, but partially because of the new formats also. | |

| They are the same 2 reasons I am mainly considering this. Most of the movies I don't want to watch anymore and the ones I do want to watch I would rather look at the in HD now. | |

| you call sell everything but the porn. You can sell that later. For whatever reason (pervs), porn seems to keep some value even when its on an outdated medium.
If you thinking you're going to convert your movies to HD, then it's probably a good idea to sell the collection. You may just want to hold on the movies you like that won't be going HD right away. I don't think people are going to be going HD players that quickly anyway. When you see the average player hitting that $300/$200 mark, then those DVDs values will bottom out. Look how long it took for DVDs to really beat out VHS tapes. Plus there is the whole having a HDTV set as well.
