So I recently took my annual trip to Universal Studios. Hell, I love that place and it had one of the best attractions... Back to the Future: The Ride. For those that haven't heard of it, it's basically 25 8-passenger Delorean's on hydrolics, racing to catch up to Biff who has stolen one of the time machines and is now running loose around the space-time continuum.
Well, anyway, after riding The Mummy Revenge, I decided to skip past Earthquake, Jaws and Men In Black: Alien Attack! and go straight for my ride of choice... Back to the Future. It was a hell of a long walk, but it would be worth it... Until I got there...
First, I noticed no BTTF: The Ride sign in the front. Maybe they were doing maintenence? Then I noticed no line... No noise of people chattering... There was no fluxing to be had here. As I inched closer, I then see it. The entrance to the attraction was surrounded by a white fence, with the sign "Pardon our dust... We are working on something new for 2008!" attached to each section. The plants were at their overgrown point... The building was lifeless. Not even a Delorean tricked out to Back to the Future standards was to be seen.
At this point, I felt like Pee Wee getting his bike stolen. I was confused... I was sad... "Maybe it'll be a new BTTF ride in 2008!?" I thought to myself... Nah, probably not. It's over. Universal's prized ride to so many people was now gone. Sure, it was a bit outdated, but when you think of Universal Studios, don't you think of BTTF? I do, but maybe that's because I'm obsessed with it.
I was not alone in my venture towards depression... Many other people looked in awe and amazement at the "Pardon our dust" sign. It was like we had all taken a trip cross-country to Wally World just have some damn moose tell us, "Sorry folks... The park's closed for repairs and maintenence..." Except this ride would never be back up and running again.
You will be missed, BTTF: The Ride.

The last time I'd ever see this sign.
The car that I may never see again. In it's place was simply a steel plate on the ground in the shape of the car. You can see it underneath the car in this pic.
