| Torrents; need some explanation I need some explanation on Torrents. I wanted to watch the MotoGP from Sunday. I know it was on the torrents, but when I went to download it, it showed it as an excutable file. I'm not aware of any video file being executable. So when I see something like that, I see a virus, and thus don't download it. I know I'm being cheap, per se. I just don't think I can quite afford the $100 for the season package at the MotoGP site for the high res videos.
Thanks in advance. | |

| *First off, just as a heads up, torrents and the like are frowned on by the senate and house of PGL. Don't be surprised if a mod closes this. Sorry, it's happened to me too.*
Now, a supposed video that is an executable can't be good news. I wouldn't touch it. I wouldn't touch anything that isn't a video format, RARs and Zip files are horrible about equipping spam and spyware/adware/malware.

| Pretty much all torrents are used for is to pirate music, video, etc.
And D_Litch is right, if you are browsing and you find anything that is an executable, RAR, or Zip file, DON'T Touch it!!!!!!! That's asking for trouble.

| Torrents are easy. I figured Keiiy already knew how to use them and was just curious about .exe "video" files. | |

| yea, I know torrents are "frawned" upon. But since I haven't been on the torrent sites before, I wasn't sure what I looking for. I was expecting to see avi, wmv, mpeg files..not an exe file. So when I saw exe file, I was like "hell no." I learned that lesson a long time ago when I was a really poor college student in the warez rooms. It how I got so efficent are format HDD, and installed a full computer system in about an hour.
ANd the torrent thing is on the same level of MP3 and peer to peer sharing. Those who really want it, will figure out a way to steel it. Unfortunately, I just don't get the speed channel. If I did, I would just record the race on the computer and watch it later. And it's 99 euros for the season package on MotoGP, so it will be over $100 after exchange rates and service fees from the credit card companies; I'm guessing about $120. And when you're unemployed, you have to pick you poisons.
So my thread is more of a educate me about torrents, not so much whether one should use them.
And before I forget, thanks for all past and any future info. Hopefully I didn't come off as defending the use of torrents. Stealing is stealing.

Dope! Keezy and I were saying the same thing at the same time. Now I have all of his Halo playing skillz and he now sucks! I saw this in a movie I think....
