I'm cancelling anyway. When I joined, you had to pay an extra fee for these guys (I think). The issue here is that XM advertises one thing, but then goes back on it. As long as they didn't slander, then there shouldn't be an issue. If O and A made racist comments or something like this, XM can and should yank them off the air.

Serren will become famous soon enough

Interesting (bad) Update:

Ben Popken at the Consumerist.com - Some XM Radio subscribers protesting the Opie and Anthony suspension hang up the phone thinking they've canceled, but after calling back to verify, it turns out they've only been given a 1-6 month credit, writes reader Justin:

"On Wednesday I called and canceled my XM subscription after finding out Opie and Anthony were suspended. This afternoon(Thursday) I read on a message board that subscribers who also called to cancel were finding out their accounts were not canceled. Instead some were given the 1-6 month credit they turned down and others found out their accounts were not flagged for cancellation until May 26 (XM's shareholder meeting is May 25th, coincidence?).

Sure enough, when I called XM customer support to verify my cancellation I was told my account was granted a 3 month credit on Wednesday instead of the cancellation I demanded. After being transferred to the cancellation department I was hung up while on hold waiting for them to pick up. It took one more call to find out my account had been canceled around the time I was on hold (hung up on) waiting for the cancellation department.

So if any readers canceled their XM service they need to call XM again and verify. Otherwise they may be in for a surprise in a few months when XM monthly charges start back up."

Others writing on an Opie & Anthony fan forum, Wackbag, say the same happened to them.

It's almost as if XM hired AOL's old retention specialists.

I originally started XM after the free three month intro when I bought my truck. I continued the subscription after listening almost exclusively to XM comedy xL. Uncensored content is why I bought a second receiver and subscription to listen at work. Also the local radio stations around here are pathetic (there is only so much Aerosmith and Guns & Roses a person can tolerate). Uncensored music is where its at for a Heavy Metal fan.

I will continue to subscribe, but this event has me perplexed. The O&A show is clearly dedicated to comedy and entertainment. They have always held the position that if you don't like it, don't listen. Plain and simple. This is the point they made for at least a week after the Imus deal.

If you paid to see a comedian that you found caustic, you would walk away thinking "that guy sucks". Some would even go to the point of demanding a refund. But if the management of the club came up on the stage, interrupted the comic, and shut down the show, then EVERYONE should be demanding a refund! There SHOULD be public outcry if the shutdown was even REMOTELY political in nature. Political censorship should never be tolerated in any fashion.

Since XM doesn't function quite like a comedy club, they will continue to operate how the management deems necessary to promote their business. What I don't understand is how a sexually natured Laura Bush skit can affect the bottom line? Just doesn't make sense to me.
