Coffee anyone?
I don't know about the rest of you, but I am a coffee nut! Or is it bean? Anyways, I just started experimenting with a french press. Anyone else have one of these? They look somewhat difficult to use, but if you can boil water, once you get the process down its really very easy. Plus they make an incredible cup of joe!
I had been using a cheap espresso machine for a year or two, I'll have to say that a french pressmakes a MUCH better tasting cup-o-brew.

I wasn't much of a coffee fan prior to getting married the 2nd time around. In fact, my wife was seemingly addicted to Starbucks. She'd stop there a few times a day. One of my "plans" after marriage was to get her to stop drinking it, altogether. Well, that didn't work. Now, I'm the one who makes the coffee. True Story.
I actually like it, now. I'll even make it when she's out of town, so I can drink it. Our little $100 Krups coffee/espresso machine thing we got for a wedding gift is a little tired, so I'll have to look into the French Press, thing.

Oh man. I think I have more coffee in my body at times than blood. I LOVE coffee. I have always wanted to pick up a French press. The CEO here is always informing me how good the coffee is out of one of those things. So they only make one cup at a time? Not sure if that would be enough for me. One cup to me is basically 4 cups. I use large coffee cups.

I average about 6 cups of coffee a day, and I consider myself crazy. But, that's what I get for having a coffee machine within walking distance all day.
Side-note*Has anyone tried the new McDonald's coffee? Their regular blend kicks Starbuck's regular in the no-no spot.

This is the model I just bought:
http://www.bodumusa.com/shop/line.as...C39TUC5FX97GD4
I pretty much got it to experiment with. It's cheap compared to other units. this was the "3 cup" model, which barely fills a decent sized mug. If I had to buy it over, I would have gotten the next size up or bigger. Like the 4 or 8 cup model.
I would also highly recommend getting a burr-type coffee grinder. It allows you to control how coarse or fine the grind is. With the press, you want a coarse grind, espresso machines need a super fine grind. You also get better flavor with freshly ground beans over pre-ground stuff.

I'm sure it is, it's dookie compared to what comes out of my coffee machine. I'm just saying that I, an a few others I've talked to agree it kicks the crap out of Starbuck's original blend.

I haven't really compared the two. McD's around here are plentiful, where there are just a few Starbucks. Although a new Starbucks seems to open its doors somewhere every other month. The big thing we have are the goumet coffee driveups. Just about every major intersection has one within a block away!

I prefer regular old Eight O' Clock coffee. I can't stand that foo-foo grande mocha chocha non-fat light creamed expresso big gulp crap from Starbucks. Coffee isn't a trend- it's life giving wake-up juice.

Word. Coffee is the nectar of the gods.
I was looking at that grind and brew from Cuisinart. My mother has one and it's pretty sweet. I grind my own beans also and that model would just allow the coffee to hit my lips a few seconds sooner. Plus, it comes in stainless steel. Hot. Has anyone tried roasting their own beans? My bud tried it a few times. He just couldn't get the hang of it. He would always burn the shit out of them.

I grind my own beans, too. I can only imagine how "stale" the preground stuff could get.

Truth!!! Machiatos and Mocha-grande-jabba-the-hutt-cappuccinos are lame. I like my hardcore Columbian that burns you eyes when you look at it. I can't stay awake without my 3 cups between 7 and 8.
