Take-Two in trouble?

Ok, I posted this in here because it affects all consoles. I'm too lazy right now to triple post.
Basically, analysts have downgraded Take-two's stock and there is talk about selling parts of Take-Two. Blah. blah. blah. Just talk at this point. But this caught me by the balls and if it happens, I will stop gaming.

Pachter also evaluated the chances of the company being acquired, broken up and sold in pieces, or being taken over by activist investors. While he described all three scenarios as "unlikely," he did suggest that the publisher's currently unprofitable 2K Sports operation might be an acquisition target for its fiercest rival, Electronic Arts. According to Pachter, EA is the most likely buyer for 2K Sports because few others would be willing to go head-to-head with the Madden NFL publisher in the sports genre.
"It is clear to us that Take-Two’s sports business would have tremendous value to EA, as it would give EA a monopoly on football, basketball, baseball, and hockey," Pachter said. "It is arguable that EA would benefit by as much as $1 billion if it were to obtain an exclusive; this does not mean that it is willing to pay $1 billion."

Well, 2K Sports is just one division, under 2K games. Remember 2K games are doing other things such as BioShock. And 2K games is a subsidary of Take Two Games.

GTA is made out of Rock Star Games, New York, which is that studios cash cow. So, I highly doubt Take Two is in that much financial trouble. The stock market is kind of wierd, per se. A stock can take a major hit because profits were not as much as "the street" were projecting.

As to GTA4 being exclusive, I haven't heard anything. I've only heard it's still being worked on. I honestly can't see it being a 360 only exclusive. I can see it being exclusive for a few months before going cross platform. The games just cost too much money to keep one platform exclusive without "extra" incentive. I'm assuming by end of the year, the PS3 should have around 8 to 10 million base, and that's a quite a few games to be sold.

Yo Bot, me and Peench were just speaking in hypotheticals. I'm sure Sony would never allow GTA to be exclusive, and it probably never will be.

Bot - I think you're right one. While GTA4 may hit the 360 first, it will eventually make its way to the PS3 I'm sure. The developers understand now that with games costing so much to produce, they can't be exclusive if they want to make money. I'm thinking the only exclusive titles we'll see in the future are the first party titles produced by either Sony or Microsoft. 3rd party developers will almost always hit all 3 (if they can).

I am pretty sure GTA IV hits PS3 and 360 on the same day(Oct 17). Are we still speaking hypothetically?

Rumors have been to hit both 360 and PS3 on the same day. It was annouced for the 360 first. Rockstar loves hoarding the info. I think it works in their favor because it actually helps build the hype for their games. They've done to well in the past for it not. They would need to send a few bombs for it not to.


I was laughing about two weeks ago because my buddy forward an email he got at work (one of the Rockstar Studios) about 2K Sports upcoming release of NFL Legends, LOL. Of course it said nothing that the public didn't get, LOL.
