In the past year I have read alot, so besides XBox I read, I don't really watch too much TV
But here is the list it took me awhile, not in any particular order because I don't remember when exactly I read them.
The Fledgling - Octavia Butler
Deception Point - Dan Brown
Scar Night - Alan Campbell
The Traveler - John Twelve Hawks
The Rule of Four - Ian Caldwell
The Mephisto Club - Tess Gerritsen
The Black Angel - John Connolly
The Last Templar - Raymond Khoury
Beyond the Band of Brothers - Dick Winters
The Ice Man (Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer) - Philip Carlo
The Band of Brothers - Stephen Ambrose
Custer and his Wolverines - Edward Longacre
Digital Fortress - Dan Brown
and I am currently reading Danse Macabre - Laurell K Hamilton, don't ask!!LOL it was recommended by a friend cuz I like vampires but its a sappy romance crap and I can't stop reading it now.

Ono,
If you like vampire books, I strongly recommend the Noble Dead series by Barb and J.C. Hendee -- it's one of the best series of books that I've read in a while. Another good one is Fevre Dream by George R. R. Martin.
Breath, I really like naval history books and have been interested in the whole USS Indianapolis thing for a while. Based on your recommendation, I'll have to pick it up.

Just following up on a few I had mentioned that I've now finished or I'm far enough along I can comment more on.
Quote:
|
Marley & Me by John Grogan -- kinda sappy, but a good read. Not exactly riveting, but it's a good, relaxing read. It's about a guy's misadventures with his dog.
|
Ended up still sappy, but overall really good. I was kinda dissappointed in that the guys seems to jump from the dog being like 4 years old to the dog being 12 or so... but hey, if that's the part that was interesting, I guess there's no complaining.

Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs -- memoirs of a guy with a crazy childhood. I've read all of one page of this one. I just picked it up last week. Supposed to be hilarious.
|
I couldn't finish this book. Waaaaaay too freaky and depressing for me. I can't believe this guy's not an axe murderer. His parents should have been neutered. People like this shouldn't be allowed to produce children.

Epicenter by Joel Rosenberg -- a look at current events and biblical prophecy. Very interesting stuff.
|
Wow, wow, wow. Boring at first, as he recounts the series of events that unfolded as he wrote a couple of books that appeared to be fore-telling specific things about the 911 attacks and the Iraq war. But then it picks up when he quits talking about the fiction side and starts relating the current events going on to Biblical prophecy and how things might unfold over the next 10-15 years or so in the Middle East. Fascinating.

So I'm almost done with The Last Templar. It has turned out to be quite the page turner. I recommend it.

I would add to the list anything by Stephan R. Donaldson, the Chronicals of Thomas covenant and the Gap into series especially
Also the Otherland Series by Tad Williams, a more complex and compelling story is hard to find.

Sounds intresting, not cause you said middle-East, But because (from my understanding) he relates Current events that are in Biblical prophecies, Are you sure the guy is relating this stuff from the Bible or the Quran. When i was younger My Father always used to tell me what the Quran Said about the Future covering all subjects that range from Wars, to Scientific discoveries that will broaden the Human races minds. I might have to swing by a pick this book up to see what he says. (Espicially since its a Rosenberg) Sneaky
good pick
