Opinions regarding Vonage and other VOIPs
Anyone have any opinions on Vonnage and other VOIP (i.e. Digital voice offered by Comcast)? I'm sick of Verizon for our phone service. I've been considering Vonage (I was ready to pull the trigger last night); however, a buddy of mine has had it for a little over a year and hasn't been very happy with some issues (dropped calls, poor support, etc).
Eric (Zoom), I rememeber you switched to it a year or so ago. Do you (or anyone else) have any thoughts you'd care to share? I'd also be really curious to hear about experiences anyone has with Comcast's Digital voice VOIP.
Thanks,
mike

I signed up for Sunrocket about a year ago - cheaper than sunrocket by like $10 a month or more ($199 for the whole year). Initially had a bunch of issues, but once it got set up and working its been great. I'm finally swtiching over my main line to the VOIP. Check out dslreports for more info on all of providers and people's comments on all of them.

Peench, good recommendation -- I looked at opinions at epinions, cnet, and amazon, but I hadn't thought of DSLreports. Thanks.

No prob Cam. I posted a rather lengthy review of sunrocket during my install process. Others had recommendations about other companies as well. Most of them were pretty right on.

I'm still very pleased with Vonage. I've had it for 2 years now, and don't have any plans of dropping it. I've even added a fax line, and it works well. I will say, though, if you don't have a reliable hi speed internet connx, then your mileage may vary.

I have a VOIP service from Armstrong Cable and well, I love it. They give you access to the features to enable or turn them off. My father back in VA has Cox Cable's VOIP and they don't give him feature or they are not telling anyone about it. Anyhow, they did not tell him long distance was free. Of course, he got the service when it was infancy but everyone knows how shady Cox's service is.
He's planning on going to FiOS anyhow.

i had sunrocket, while they werent that bad teh call quality was no better than a cell phone, and i had repeated complaints, however I did get Comcast digital voice and its actually quite superior, im quite pleased with comcasts service, if not thier pricing.
